SRC Lancia Delta S4 Martini - Toivonen-Cresto Monte Carlo Rally 1986
#1

The SRC Lancia Delta S4 is coming! SRC have just announced that the first model will be unveiled for pre-order tomorrow (26 September) on the SRC website, to be shipped from Monday 26 October.

The first model is of the Henri Toivonen / Sergio Cresto car that won the 1986 Monte Carlo Rally - the first rally of that fateful season. It will be available in both Original and Chrono versions.

Cars are taking shape in Spain right now...

One was sent to Pablo Sacristán San Jose, who took these fabulous photos for the SRC 2.0 EVO Facebook page...

Prices will be announced tomorrow and retailers will soon let us know when they'll get their hands on them. MRE and Pendles have both versions of the car listed for pre-order.

This one was already announced by OSC, happy to see it’s finally there.

If I look at the pictures of the chassis though the car looks quite complicated. Is that motor laying there in an angle? Is part of the rear attached to the chassis?

I do like it but don’t see much room for performance, maybe a chrono version will be a better option to run.

so a review here by a rally enthousiast would be fine :)

From a top view, the motor is inline. Whether it is inclined... I very much doubt it.

On the SRC 'assembly line', there are the diagrams below for assembling the 'Original' spec version of the car. I suspect the interior (including the rear section) will be a one-piece lightweight alternative for the Chrono models - that has been the case for the Peugeot 205 T16 EVO and Porsche 914/6 GT cars. The Chrono is definitely the version designed for racers. Hopefully the full specs of both will be posted on the SRC website over the weekend.

Here are those diagrams...

Fascinating stuff - and thanks to the SRC team for sharing their process.

Thanks for the extra pictures. I ordered one as a Xmas gift to myself. The price will not be to everyone’s likings but, I assume, mainly build in Spain. So supporting the local economy  Thumbup

Just a heads up that the cars have arrived in the UK. MRE and Pendles have both versions listed, but selling fast.

With such excellent quality, that is no surprise.

Here are two more photos of the SRC Lancia, taken on my Scalextric Classic track:
