Slot Car Racing

A bit of proxy Leyland Legends fun is coming up on SlotRacer this week. Eight TR7s have been spawned by the excellent Triumph TR7 Refurb thread on the forum – and they will be put through their paces on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. All the action will be posted in the SlotRacer Proxy Racing section here.

There’s just a week to get your rally-raid cars to the race master for next month’s Extreme Slotting Proxy. This event promises to be something special, with the entrants’ cars tackling off-road courses at six different venues. You can find out more in the Proxy Racing section here.

Slot Car Events

Okay, nothing’s quite back to normal yet… but there are a couple of UK slot car events happening this autumn. The first is in September and is organised by Weevils Slot Cars, just down the road from their Haywards Heath HQ. Slot Cars

Fly have released three new versions of their Ferrari 250 GTO – two from the 1962 Goodwood Tourist Trophy and the other from that year’s Le Mans 24 hours. They are selling fast, but you might just be able to find them at your favourite Fly stockist.

At last! Pioneer have just released their first pair of models on the ’37 Dodge Coupe Legends body. In blue and yellow and with Sunoco sponsorship, these join the Ford and Chevy Coupes in Pioneers fabulous Legends Racing Series range. Find them at your local Pioneer dealer now.

The real car was a GT4 winner last weekend at Snetterton… and the Scalextric version of the Academy Motorsport Ford Mustang GT4 is expected at retailers very soon. You can read more about the car and the model in the News section here.

Racer Sideways have a first decorated version of their Ford GT GTE on its way… And what a livery! The Keating Motorsport Ford raced in GTE Am at the 2019 24 hours of Le Mans. You can read about the car, the story of the race and have a closer look at the Sideways model over in the News section here.

Slot Car Tracks

There’s some great detailing on Nico’s drag strip – especially as it’s 1:64 scale! You can see more of this amazing miniature work over in the Scenery section of the forum here.

The Monterey Motorsports Reunion is a must see for anyone who loves historic racing. Taking place on the California coast, upwards of a billion dollars worth of magical machinery takes to the track during the week. This year, Goodwood Road & Racing streamed the event on their YouTube Channel – you can catch-up with all the sights and sounds at your leisure here.

Formula E was in Berlin this weekend for the 2020-1 season finale. Fifteen drivers went into the penultimate race on Saturday with realistic hopes of the title. After forty-five minutes of racing, the top seven in the championship were covered by just nine points… You can watch highlights of the two races and find out what happened over on the Formula E YouTube Channel here.

And finally for this week, West Surrey Racing have notched up their 100th BTCC win. It’s a remarkable achievement by Dick Bennetts’ team – and fitting that four-time BTCC champion and veteran WSR driver Colin Turkington took that historic win.
