Triple Crown Builds
#51

It’s been narrowed down to a handful full of cars.   The 904 fits well in this class and is ready to go although I’m chasing a friction issue or rub but all parts are free and true. I will need to check the motor shaft and replace if needed. The 908s the white one meets the rules and has a guide that meets spec.  The silver 908 is very easy to drive but would require a motor change and is 20 grams heavier.  I have a 934 on a Plafit chassis that may give me a better chance at being competitive if it can out run a 935 or 2.

Just curious as several models are RTR without provisions for lighting, 10 pts is a huge challenge to overcome assuming 1 point per race.  10 wins in a row to make up the deficit would be tough, with SirCourtneyS coming closest of all competitors with a Porsche that has won a vast majority of the time.

I was going to run a 908/3 too until I realized there'd be no lights.

Just to clarify the "Bonus points for lights", these points will not be added to the separate class results. So as such cars with and without lights have the same chance for winning the Class category. However the points will be added to the total team points at the end to the series results, so will therefore effect the outcome of the "Team Prize"

The Porsche 908/3 real car was fitted with lights for some events like Le mans etc, so if your feeling adventurous with your modeling skills you could fit them to your car

I have zero modeling skills.  Paint it flat silver, add a few numbers or go with what came out of the box. That’s all I got. ?

If this is the best nsr could do with their Italian craftsman, resources and tools I wouldn't rate my chances!   Rofl

On a serious note I think it would be tricky to get a nice finish as the body curves just where you'd put the lights I guess. May be a little 1.8mm led could be squeezed in at the very bottom of the body where it's flat but I think it would be difficult to route the wires, I'll leave it to the more skilled I think. I've just noticed my idea for class C doesn't really lend itself to lights either  Tappingfoot

The Mercedes W196 is ready to rock and roll in the Summer Grand Prix

My Class A Early Flyers Class

I used am old Cartrix Body which had suffered a terminal damaged rear axle lug from many years ago during club racing.

So I cut out the old chassis area and replaced with a slot it in line pod which fits perfectly, the motor is a Typhoon 18k rpm, also from an older club car which has remained redundant since the class was abandoned. The front wheels and tyres are from the original car, the rear axle gear is slot it with PCS rear wheels and tyres. The guide has been replaced with a Slot it 7mm depth blade.

I hope to finish the Class B Cooper Climax over the weekend  Sun

They go well with a SlotIt pod, here's my W196 with modified chassis...and pod...lead is your friend with narrow cars on skinny tyres and 2mm ground clearance  Thumbup

This is to CSCRA width but those tyres are now too small in diameter for CSCRA

Life is like a box of Slot cars... Cool Drinkingcheers

Not much progress on the grand Prix builds but I am due to give class c a shakedown tomorrow and pick up the chassis for class D.

Now do I risk that my chinesium calipers are somehow calibrated to be within 0.1mm of Graham's??

I've been caught out before, could do without a penalty!
