Early 60's Slot Car Proxy - 'Car Builds'
#1

I often see on other forums, social media and Youtube channels that people love to see car builds.

This is one I started in 2020 when we had a push on Grand Prix and Prewing F1 car builds at the club.

It's not finished but will progress.

Take one cheap as chips Scalextric Lotus 25, glue it together and start grinding, building, testing, modifying, re-building, testing, modifying....etc etc

I raced it like this a few years ago, slimline motor, two part adjustable chassis (which had a tendency to 'adjust' if it hit the wall).

It's now got a one-piece chassis and a Flat 6 25k in it (that'll have to go) and a brass plate underneath.

I don't think I've raced it like this yet!, well here's an excuse to get the car finished and on the tracks.

There's a fantastic database of old cars like these and after a short search this car of mine was made in 1967 by MRRC and not Scalextric as I thought.

386 Lotus 25 - 1962 J Brabham - MRRC 5152 1967

It's a Lotus 24 Climax, raced in red so that's less work.

Working on this one for the show….I still have tons to do, like adding prancing horses, numbers and fine tuning if it’s going to compete.  Up next will be my Porsche 550 Spyder.

Once team Brumos can find a driver this one will be ready to go.  Playing around with background colors using Ai If the pic looks a little weird.

I was going for the Cal look of the Karmen Ghia.  With such a long time before we race, I hope it competes as good as it looks.

It definitely has that look and suits it so well.
