2023 Touring Car Slotting Proxy Builds
#1

Had to get an early start on this one just in case I need to make a color change if someone else wants to run this Livery.  I have no problem painting this one silver.

This one should be ready to go assuming Scalextric slimline 20k and or SRC slimline 23k motors are approved as we get closer to the show.  I will need to swap out the guide.

The choice is just as bewildering as the Rally proxy so just like the Jag which was gathering dust waiting for resurrection I'm going to do the same with a dusty repaired Carrera Audi RS5 DTM bodyshell.

The plan will go something like this:
  • Kev's 3D chassis
  • Independently rotating wheels with split front axle like the Jag
  • SlotIt SW pod
  • NSR 22k Shark
  • Slotingplus guide (cut down)
  • Not sure on tyres, NSR are favourite but like the idea of trying newer rubber like Revoslot kit tyres or Scaleauto AS25's...or even a pair of Thunderslots which I've never tried but read great things about them
Chassis is made, you can't get it right first time because you can't measure the bodyshell wheel arch centres and cutouts accurately so it's a case of make one, see what needs adjusting, print version 2

So here's the 'first fix' chassis with dusty RS5

Yes that Porsche looks great silver  Heart
And I have checked the SRC 23k Slimline, that one and the Scalextric Slimlines are all approved.

If another Revoslot Alfa runs, I’ll pick up another body and shoot it silver.  I had the pleasure of seeing it run for the first time last week.  ‘

The RS5 is a roller.

This is mk2, wheelbase was 0.5mm too long on mk1, the sills needed moving back a similar distance and I've profiled the rear of the chassis.

Front wheels I'm happy with, rears need to be a bigger wheel but these will do for setting up purposes.

We're racing Saloons this Thurs so will give it a run...I may even race it.

This motor/pod are out of a 3D printed Studebaker Champion, NSR Shark 22 and gears.

Kevan, that look like a great start and I’m happy you’re competing…. what wheels are those on the front of the Audi?
