Targa Florio Road Race - Car builds & Tracks
#1

Wavegreen Good Morning,
I thought I would add this slight variation on the car builds, to include some photo shoots of the cars and tracks.

Some prospective Road Runners cars trying out the Hillclimb section of the "Harlequin Pass"

Also some photos of the "Spen Brook" which is down at the moment for maintenance.

SO ENTRANTS ARE WELCOME TO POST PHOTOS OF YOUR CAR BUILDS HERE, AND THE HOSTS CAN POST THEIR TRACK PICS AS WELL

I bought this car in a lot of four XK120's...all in need of repair, all with broken windows (probably due to being posted in one bag together with 5 other cars, a bit of bubble wrap...I shouldn't complain because they were a bargain)

I already race/Rally a blue one which was in the Rally Proxy, I also have a standard red hardtop one for our Back2Basics class.

This one is perfect as it already has full Rally livery and a wonderful interior...

It now has a 3D printed chassis and SW pod printed in tough PLA+
The front and rear axle tubes are 1/8" square tube...yes square, it's a new idea I'm trying but will work perfectly well.

It's a 'roller' at the moment, no motor or guide but should be ready for the first track test on Thursday night

My second car is only at the 'list of possibles' stage

... I'll get some photos of our Rally stages on Thursday so you can see what's available.

The 356 is close to ready and may be an entry along side the Vette. It ran in the Pan Am proxy years ago. The stickers on the rear represent a few places the car has raced at that time.  Yep the Little Bastard’s Momma for those that are familiar with James Dean and his 550 Spyder.  I believe the rear tires are 8.5mm so I will need to mount up a pair of 8s and swap in a motor with the hopes of competing

The Jag got a good test last night on the big track and on one of the Rally stages and I really like it...I might have to build another so I can race a similar car whilst this one is elsewhere in the land

...then I remembered tonight that I was going to take photos of the Rally tracks...guess what...

...well I've got Monday off so I could pop into town and get some photos

Other than tape over the screws and my name writing on the bottom of the chassis, this one's ready
...I decided to leave it left hand drive

Nice colour too. I'm sure I'll eventually find one. Maybe next year?  Bigsmile

I had to make a new windscreen wiper for the drivers side (UK, right hand drive that is)...a few minutes on the 3D CAD and a couple of minutes on the 3D printer and it looks ok.
