Touring Cars Slotting - Official Results & Reports

"Graham, couple of questions, are the hosts instructed to clean tires in between heats or when the cars change lanes to run with the new driver?  Are the cars to be inspected by the hosts prior to running or after ?  As we know loose tires can drastically alter the outcome or a broken body post ( except in the case of ALS’ Audi) I’m in awe of a 4.6x lap AND 2nd place.  I’m solely looking at the list of cars with issues other than electrical, and the rubber build on the other"

I have attached the Briefing Sheet below.
.pdf Touring cars Briefing sheet. v3.pdf Size: 56.43 KB  Downloads: 38

But yes the hosts are requested to clean braids and tyres before the start of each cars run. No regarding an instruction to inspect cars either both of after a Round, there should be, but in general it has been assumed that they would do and many hosts have.
But this of course depended in giving the hosts sufficient time to be able to do so
And it is something that needs to be included in the next proxy I would agree.

It is an observation of mine that in general hosts are finding faults when they are checking cars before running a Round, but don't check the cars afterwards so don't notice issues which have occurred during their round (ie the cars are basically boxed up after the race for the next host without checking)

As you know this Proxy has been beset with issues regarding schedules related to the MIC fiasco, which means that the more balanced plan went out the window, one host had to drop out and then replaced as a result. Even with the last 2 Rounds, the previous Club Round needed to be extended to a 2nd night on the following week, which meant that the NERCS club only received the cars the day before running them.

In the past we have been fortunate that relatively speaking things were more relaxed and hosts had more time to complete their Rounds, resulting in a smoother running proxy. On reflection I think I should have abandoned the proxy after we had the first delay, and rescheduled it for next year.

What I have taken from running this one is that we need to have more time between Rounds to allow for better checking of the cars and delivery logistics etc. Probably better instructions for the hosts. Maybe even fewer cars and less Rounds.

In fact I have decided to limit the GT Sports Cars Slotting proxy to 30 cars.

North Staffs Slot Car Club (Round 10)

Well what a day, on arrival I was delighted to see some familiar faces.....and they even remembered me from the few occasions I frequented the club for a while before Covid. The club track is one of the best in the country and frequently used for National GT3 type competitions. The drivers which Chris had seconded where also some of the best in the country, so I knew we were in for a good Round. Classichrisk did the race control, and I did the videos presentation and some marshalling.
For this Round we used the "Yellow flag" technique, stopping the track for any car de-slots and avoiding excessive lost time for the cars concerned. As this track normally has 6 marshal's and we had 3 available it was a great way to run.

So to the Results.
Tourist Event 1

2nd Place - Brumos RSR - Porsche 911
3rd Place - RoadRunners - Galaxie

Drivers Comments
Savage GT Mustang- run well, not as smoothly as the Brumos RSR Porsche which both drivers really loved, however the Mustang proved again that it just had the pace over the Porsche.
Roadrunners  Galaxie -was said to run very well and smooth.
Lifeboats Galaxie -was very stiff with no body rock, front axle/wheels felt uneven.

The quick is the soft tender flesh under your nails, when you cut nails too short it exposes the quick and hurts for quite a while.
