Touring Cars Slotting - Official Results & Reports

(22nd-Oct-23, 03:02 PM)Kevan Wrote:  Just to clear up any possible confusion over the 'distance' recorded in the first two rounds, Round 1 is the total laps recorded in a set time whereas Round 2 is time recorded in seconds over a set number of laps.

Yes I will ask Jason to change the Title of that field on the results to "Time" as it can be either depending on the system used by the hosts.

That would be confusing also as Round 1 scores are high to low whereas Round 2 scores are low to high.

Maybe change it to Laps/Time to suit either host preference.

Thank you again for the input.

hi Andy
your mention of 8 seconds really peaked my curiosity and got me thinking  , especially as 8 secs is an average-ish lap time here , and i wondered , since i was careful to ensure there were zero de-slots for any of the cars , perhaps my timing had missed a lap somehow for your car ?
so i re-ran the Rover several times again today , 3x in total , 10 lap stints each time , just to ease my own peace of mind tbh
i got almost identical lap times , and very similar total times for each 10 lap run
so i cannot see the timing being faulty

regarding the guide Graham mentioned
depth = 6.4mm , width = 1.4mm , length = 20.9mm
so again no problem here

next i had a good look at the car to see if there was anything obvious ( i did not open up the car though )
and again nothing , front independent wheels are free and no binding , rear wheels are free with no binding , gear mesh is good , all tyres are good and clean  , guide moves freely with very little to no  wobble  , braids are clean , wiring looks good

so that brings us back to the lower voltage ? i couldn't think of anything else
so i then ran it at 12v , and indeed the car was very much faster down the straights and continued to handle very well
how this would have translated overall here at Goldrock , especially with all the other cars having the extra power , is debatable

the car is very quiet and smooth , and corners very well , (infact at 10v could almost run the whole lap at full tilt) , but was noticeably slow in a straight line ?

i am sure at higher voltages and on larger tracks ( and probably a better driver ) this car will be a different beast , which we will definitely find out in the up coming rounds

i don't know what else to say Andy , other than good luck in the rest of the series ( and perhaps to wonder if you have any old chassis you dont need  Bigsmile )

It seems very strange as it is relatively quite a large drop in performance.
However stranger things have happened before, so hopefully it will find form again at the Wye Valley Track

Thank you Kev for your enthusiasm and commitment, I really appreciate the time you spent in an attempt to get to the bottom of this.

Hi,

Here’s a picture of our 4 lane Ninco track at Wye Valley.
It’s 100ft long and will be at 12v.

Lap record is 8.19 NSR Mosler
Our Slot it DTM lap record is 9.74.

Looking forward to running all the cars.
Phil.
