Hi guys, I have to say I am hugely bewildered by the results in round 2 gained by my Rover SD1. From 1st in round 1 to 10th in round 2 with a description of, and I quote “smooth and planted’ ???

Kevin, thank you for running the round and getting the most out of the Brumos RSR cars.  I went with what I thought were shorter guides than normal. Congratulations Mountain View, Banger Racing, Roadrunners and Savage GT on your wins.  Kevan, thank you again for the gear repair on the SRC  BMW 2.8 CS

unfortunately the brass chassied SD1 i think suffered most from the 10v track power choice
during qualifying it ran a fastest lap of 9.5ish , whilst in the race it was slightly quicker at 9.26
in the qualifying notes i described the car as ' smooth , planted , heavy , a little slow , needs more brakes' , in the race notes i abbreviated it to just 'smooth , planted '

to explain , the car is very smooth and quiet , and due to its weight it is very stable mid corner , but that weight hinders it during acceleration and braking , .... obviously the lower power didnt help , but since this was across the board for all cars i feel it was fair
tbh i did have a look at this car , thinking it was a bit sluggish , but could not see anything obvious

i am certain , in future rounds , on larger club type tracks and with the extra power , this car will come into its own
hope this helps
btw , love this cars hydro dipped body ,and regarding that chassis , i need some tips to build one , it is lovely

Hi Kev, thank you for the input. Manx Brian’s car is virtually identical to the Rover - I built both cars and yet despite mine being the slightly quicker car his overall lap time was 8 seconds quicker than the Rover. Perhaps the Rover de-slowed a number of times?
Thank you again for the input.

Sorry it should say de-slotted.

Re the chassis, when I was 16 (a long time ago) I won all classes in I think it was Area5 and went to the ECRA National finals in Birmingham with slot cars I had built. I made the finals in 2 classes (I gave my 3rd run up to another club member). Incidentally Chas Keeling from SCD was my metalwork teacher at school.

Hi Andy,
having looked through the results, I would say that something else other than Track voltage caused the unusually slow running Round result.
I wondered if the Slot it Plus guide was actually a 8mm depth one instead of the 7mm recommended, if so it would have worked OK on my Carrera track but would have scraped along the bottom of the Scalex Sport Track ?

If not then it would suggest something more worrying is happening, I will ask Phil at the Wye Valley Club to give it a run beforehand to see if he thinks it is running as expected. The Ninco track is deeper than the Scalex Sport track so it should be OK on that one if related to the guide depth.

Wavegreen Good afternoon,

Well it was along time coming but eventually Kevin was able to put together a great Round for us.

I have updated the SCOREBOARD on the leading page.
The tab Points - shows you how your individual cars are doing overall
And the tab Teams - shows you how your Team are doing overall (if entered 2 cars)

Just to clear up any possible confusion over the 'distance' recorded in the first two rounds, Round 1 is the total laps recorded in a set time whereas Round 2 is time recorded in seconds over a set number of laps.

...edited to add: that Graham has highlighted at the bottom of the 'Data' page in the scores
