With the Touring Proxy underway, thought I’d Star a build page for the GT Proxy in the Spring

I've been working on a car that's never gone well, very inconsistent...Policar Ferrari F40 SW pod with SlotIt DTM motor and 12mm NSR Ultras. I just accepted the fact it was never going to be a good race car but this proxy made me rethink as it's on the list for Event 3, Global GT.
...so I spent a lot of time sorting it out, experimenting, trying different motors and tyres.
12mm wide tyres rubbing on the engine molding took ages to eliminate.
I decided to try narrower tyres, NSR 11mm Ultras with a NSR King 21 anglewinder and it goes really nicely albeit a little unpredictable which I've always found with AW setups.
Next week the SW pod is going back in for more testing with these narrower tyres.
Yesterday I found a set of old wheels & tyres, long since discarded and made wheel inserts out of them by gluing an axle in then filing them down on a 1st cut file (aka Bastard file - yep that's a real name, google it).

Fronts are also 21mm tall. This of course creates an extremely high ride height at 2mm as it was built for the US TA Proxy where there is a 1.5mm of tire showing between the wheel and top center of the fender.
At 59mm wide at the rea and 58mm wide at the front it’s better than the Thunderslot Shelby at 59mm rear and 55mm at the front. It’s 40mm at its highest point versus 38.5mm for the Mustang so hopefully the front width makes up for the difference and potentially a rear and side window change. The weight is down from 103grams to 94grams, I will need to find 5 more grams for better handling, braking and acceleration. The goal is for it to handle somewhat like a big Thunderslot Can Am car.

Amato chassis, Slotit offset pod, NSR rears. PCS fronts, Gears are 10 to 27 (at least will be when the replacement offset 27 tooth contrate arrives from Pendles, to replace the one I dropped me soldering iron on
Won't be all round glazed as original Scalextric body did not have side windows.
