...and as you can see Tamar, in order to learn how to assemble a chassis that has half a chance of functioning after I have built it, I have made a clone of your Le Mans 991.
So if it does not run well, I will blame you!

Not exactly a clone yet Jeremy
Yours still has the front splitter... and lacks the tripod motorpod set up and the wider side suspension set up ;)
But, one step at a time.
The main problem we're facing these days...is lack of track time
with kind regards

Not a clone, wrong word...lets just call it the JB991#001 car.
Tripod motor mount...I missed that! I have the EVO6 motor mount on the LM chassis, but still need to understand and try fitting the side suspension.
No lights yet, but I have the SI kit ready to go once I get both chassis' running
Still haven't found anything to match your lovely wheels, so have just painted my stock SA ones black.
Need to re-solder the motor on the LM car the 'Spanish Way' as at the moment, the connections and SM are clashing with the back seats of the cabin. Very limited space/gap there (as you probably know!).

Hello Jeremy
Tri-pod motor mount = the bracket you asked questions on for the Ford GT LM
But looks like I owe you an apology as I need to correct myself, we did run the Scaleauto Porsche with a modified Slot.it SW pod with side suspension...
...but not with the modified front end tri-pod suspension.
We only started doing that with the Scaleauto C7R we ran a year later.
Porsche has less room for such an extra bracket.
If you're interested, I do have some spare 3DP brackets left.
Last but not least, all my cars run with lightweight vacformed interiors, there's one available from Scaleauto fro the Porsche as well.
with kind regards
Tamar

Thank you...as we say, never look a gift horse in the mouth.
I have been looking back at the introduction of the EVO6 motor mount to try and better understand why it was introduced. It seems that it was in order to provide mid anchor points, and allow suspension to be fitted to the front and rear fixing points if desired. But is it the case that your 3DP bracket were invented to allow suspension at these mid point locations and leave the rear fixing points open?

Hello Jeremy
Slot.it evo pod was introduced to allow suspension or anchoring at all points you mentioned.
But for the set-up I prefer..its the wider spread of the mid suspension that makes the biggest improvement.
With the Porsche I used half threaded metric screws in the rear fixtures as suspension stops, to limit the amount of suspension travel.
Just like you would do with the front fixtures.
The 3DP brackets we made were primarily to mate the Slot.it pod to the Scaleauto mid suspension pick up points on the chassis.
As you will have noticed these are
- Narrower than the Slot.it evo pod
- Placed more forward than the Slot.it evo pod
With kind regards

Tamar.
In your photo above, are the gears as per the spec below?
If so, did you have to sleeve the motor shaft to get the small can spindle out to 2mm for the pinion?
How do you stop the motor coming out of mesh under hard impact?
Alan
-----------------------
Scaleauto sc1151 17.5mm 31T sidewinder crown
Mitoos m214 nylon 8mm 14T pinion
25.5mm total , 12.5mm separation
0.5mm tighter than Slot.IT sidewinder gears.
Ratio 2.21

Brief update before I go out gardening for the day...
Chopped the EVO6 wings of the Slot.it pod, should have realised they are pointless when matched to a Scaleauto chassis!
Re-configured wiring to the motor to attach the FM to the chip (the "Spanish Way" ) in order create more space around the motor for the body to move.

Hello Alan, you were almost 100% spot on for the gear specs. But its a 14T nylon Sigma pinion with an OD of 7,8mmø
The two motors crews are more than capable to keep the light MX16 in place...but to make absolutely sure for major endurances...
...once mesh and gearing is set... glue the whole lot in place
A good reference on how I prep my SW motor pods can be found in
this post of the Ford GT-LM
With kind regards
