Any tips for holding your motor firmly in position when your motor pod has slotted fixing holes?

Perhaps you can fill the slotted holes with pieces of plastic the same thickness as the motor pod.
Then drill holes for the motor. This way the motor can't go up or down.

You may need some washers if the screw heads are to small.

Simplest way is washers under the heads of the screws to spread the load, they won't move unless you're a smasher/crasher.

With all the forces that the motor generates with acceleration and braking, I am thinking that a slot is always going to be a weak link. And I don't like to rely on either friction or glue. So maybe as suggested I'll infill the two slots with some spare plastic and then just drill a simple hole in each.

Some cars only have one screw hole and the motor doesn't rotate loose in those if the screw is properly tight.

...and some motors don't have screw holes (older NSR's) and glue holds them just fine.
