Scalextric have revamped their website recently. If you fancy a laugh try using their 'stockist search' facility. LINK
It informs me that the only Scalextric stockist within 50 miles of my home town of King's Lynn is the Imperial War Museum at Duxford, Cambs!
King's Lynn has two, Ely has one and Norwich has at least two but they don't exist in Hornby's strange world. In fact, vast swathes of the UK apparently have no stockists of any Hornby product, including Birmingham and Liverpool! Pendle Slot and MRE are also notable by their absence.
Here are some photos of my latest slightly modified and repainted batch of figures.
All figures are second hand and bought at swapmeets such as the UK Slot Car Festival in Gaydon.
Most changes concern the hats, which now have been changed to caps with the help of a file.

Hello fellow racers collectors and general slot car nuts . I have a home racing group here in regional Victoria Australia we run on my 4 lane Carrera track with an aftermarket variable power supply running to normal commercial / club style controllers . I use race coordinator as my race management program . Only run cars as non magnet and reduce the volts to make it nice easy close racing .
I love seeing every one else track and set ups .My track is more a functional race track than a visual layout as i not that good at the detailing of track scenery etc . So far my racing group are happy with the layout style and format that i run my events they all keep coming back for more .
Love seeing the sport growing and being a part of it world wide
you can check out my new facebook page under @mbr103
Thanks Mike
I am noticing a buzz of HO around me, but never got a foot in the door. I traded a huge collection of old Strombecker parts for a used and abused HO car collection several years ago. I've added many new cars to the collection over time. But it never got off the ground. I have a track and tried all the cars. The thing that bugs me most is the tire vibrations on some of the cars.
I see the drag race proxies going on. But have no clue what's what. I'm going to require a small (or large) education first.
The cars.
The track.
I presently use aftermarket urethane tires on my 1/32 cars. I glue and true them. No vibrations. Not sure where to buy, or how to true HO tires.
Out of all the cars. The red Ferrari Dino doesn't run. (back row)
Thank you very kindly for any help you can provide to this HO newbie.
As an introduction I am 75 and just bought my first Carrera Slot set a little over a week ago. I have added to it and built a layout with 70 feet of track. (I have no clue what that is in meters) I actually assembled everything yesterday morning. out of five cars I only have one left with mirrors on it. I set my ghost car, set two other cars for the slowest speed, for when my great grand kids (twin boys) come over. I have so much work to do once I get my track set. I have two more lane changers coming in. I have 5 now so I will have 7 total. I am glad I was told of this Forum.
I know I'm preaching to the converted, but I just wanted to say what I great experience slot car racing has become.
Although I have not long been a member of SlotRacer.Online I have used Scalextric for many years (too many I care to say), using ARC Air for some time, however, I liked the sound of racing multiple cars on the same track and changing lanes. So I have now upgraded to ARC Pro.
After converting my cars to digital using the EasyFit plug in chips, I set up a three car, ten lap race, against two pace cars using the Magic Arc App, pace cars on the front of the grid and my car on the second row.
I did think I was a good home racer, but now I'm having second thoughts!
When running analogue, with one car in each lane, I've realized that I concentrate mostly on my car and getting it round, but running in the digital format you constantly have to check on the other cars to decide, if and when, to change lanes, not to accelerate too much that you hit the car on the same lane in front etc.
Needless to say it took a few races and crashes before I managed to get the hang of the new system.
The fourth of our five-date Winter Series is coming up fast! This one is Nostalgia-themed - featuring Micro Scalextric Street Stock, Nostalgia T-Jet, Nostalgia 4-Gear Funny Car - and some Nostalgia Micro Scalextric 2019 match-racing. Qualifying is on Tuesday 9 February, racing on Wednesday 10 February and all the coverage is right here on SlotRacer Online.
The full regulations and format are in the Winter Series Preview thread here.
The Track: The Rock County Eighth Mile is a seven-foot timed strip (1/8 mile in true HO scale) made from the new 2019 Micro Scalextric sectional track. Cars must be fitted with braids to run on this track. Power for the first event is 12 volts, 4 amps per lane. Power to both lanes is triggered by a single switch firing a 2-channel relay board. Timing is Trackmate Drag Basic. There is a two-foot shutdown with dynamic braking and a well-padded catch box.
Sending cars: Aim for your cars to arrive in Brighton by the previous Saturday so they can be quarantined and then registered for qualifying on Tuesday. Please also pack in a small box (max height 7.5cm if possible) and pay for your postage online so no-one needs to go near a post office. These races are designed to be full-on social distancing events that are accessible to everyone in these difficult times and can continue during local or national lockdowns.
How to enter: Add a reply with your interest and the classes you'll be entering - one car per class per person. Family members and friends are very welcome to enter too. I will message you with the address to send cars to. You will need to pay for return postage. Otherwise there is no race fee.

Just received the Platinum Pro set. It won't let me activate more than 2 drivers during a race. Also when I try to calibrate a driver, it sends it full throttle off the track even at the lowest speed. I can run driver 1 outside (red) and driver 2 inside (green) on separate slots but won't allow me to use the switch track either. If I manually switch the track then the car that switched slots is now being controlled by the other controller.
