Well it's funny you should say that because I was thinking after seeing Ade's blue Mini the other day wouldn't it be the coolest proxy ever if it was only Minis...'The Italian Job Proxy'...

Yes it was seeing Ade’s Mini which made me think of it. But I would also perhaps include similar cars for those who want to try something slightly different like Hillman / Sunbeam Imps, Austin A35 or A40 etc.
There must be some kind of real Classic racing event at Goodwood or somewhere else as a reference point ?

This Thursday is one of our theme nights, we have a few different ones but this one is '50s & 60s Monsters & Minis'...think Galaxie 500 Vs Mini Cooper, Jaguar Mk7 Vs Austin A40...
We do allow old Scaley Minis with the wheel arches but all the 'minis' are 54mm max width across the tyres and 9mm max width tyres.
Of course the monsters are quicker as they're wider and have 10mm tyres...but the minis aren't far behind but that could be two classes.

Glad I’ve inspired! That little mini I made is a cracking little car. We ran some laps with it against a Revell Cortina (also tuned with Amato chassis and slot it running gear). It was the most entertaining race to watch, the Cortina pulling away in the straights, and the little mini catching up and passing through the twisty bits. The lap times were near identical. A club member is currently building a George Turner Imp which should hopefully be comparable too.

We often see a Moggy 1000 in our Small Saloons races, an Anglia now and again and a George Turner Austin A35 is seen a few times through the year.

I was kinda thinking of a Mini Event of cars with maximum rear axles width of 50mm.

I really enjoyed that video Ade, even though I have four different Minis on four different kinds of chassis I'm now getting the urge to build a 5th on another kind of chassis... why not
...now where's that red Scaley Cooper...
