Concerning both options:

There's advantages to be seen here if you choose the right event if you fancy a go at winning a class...wide plus wide tyres looks best  Thumbup
...just an idea but maybe the narrow tyre classes could be allowed a 1mm track clearance.

As regards the Historic Roadrace option, I'm hoping that's going to be for road track only not bumpy offroad track as we saw in the Rally Proxy.  This is the #1 thing holding me back on making a definite choice.

I basically posted something similar then read Karan’s post.  I will need a ton of advice on building a car for bumps.

I want to avoid cars running too low to the track surface for the usual reasons ( possibility of beaching or magnetic traction advantage  from the motor) but I think it is justifiable to allow cars with potentially smaller wheels (ie U2.OL) to run with 1mm clearance. So that will be included in a revised addition of the rules once we decided which proxy topic to run.

Wavegreen Good afternoon,

well I could not decide myself, so it was a call of the "toss of a coin" by my wife  Sun

[attachment=33056]

I have changed the earlier Saloon Cars to those between 1970-1982

And yes Class C has been restored.

There are other changes, and no doubt more to come.........

Just a thought, but sometimes getting 10mm tyres means sanding or slicing as tyres that say they are that size do have a bit more sometimes.
I prefer not to slice /sand tyres width whenever possible.
Also a lot of the NSR tyres (my preference as a few others) for classics only go down to 8.5. And most Slot It tyres don't even go that narrow. There are alternatives obviously, but I prefer using either of the above brands personally.
Might it be an idea to allow 10.5 when you want 10 and 9 for 8.5 mm as maximums ? Thinking the GT proxy also could benefit from that ?

Also think maybe you are too generous on max widths across the board for this proxy, personally I would have thought 55 max for event 1 and 2, 57 for event 5 under 2L and 61 over 2L ?
Just thinking it could make a larger range of cars competitive as its easier to narrow axle widths on the wider bodied cars.

As always, just my thoughts, and obviously will comply with your decisions :)

I'm happy with 10mm tyres with the lower powered motors we're using in these proxies, we've managed with the Touring Proxy.

Sure, not an issue with grip TBH, more a matter of compliance, there is occasionally variation and a tyre listed as 10mm wide may be a little over.

Ok so as way of an explanation, once I posted the original plane yesterday I came to the conclusion that having two specialised Events was going to be difficult to fulfill. Many of our regulars rely on their available models to compete in the proxy. And i thought having two similar "modellers" based Events was too ambitious. But I like to have at least one Event which is a bit more specialised to encourage others into the proxy who might find their niche in this Event.
I also reconsidered the issues of B&W /metal chassis, and removed the restriction of use with them on the basis that if all cars are constrained to In line or Sidewinders and with 20k rpm motors this should reduce any significant advantage of performance they have over the other Class C cars.

I sometimes struggle to see the whole picture with initial design of these proxies until after I have presented them  Rofl

For this proxy it is worth pointing out that my intention would be to have Class awards for each of the 3 Events at the end of the series, but not the usual 1st, 2nd & 3rd awards.  To encourage more Class A entrants in each event the differences between the Classes in terms of motor and motor orientation are much more constricted to give the potential for closer racing between all 3 classes. There will be no Best Team Award, each Event is rewarded separately.

In regards to the question raised by Savage GT, I think the tyre width sizes are generous, and I do allow some tolerance for tyres being "slightly" oversize. If I was to make the tyre widths another half millimeter then of course entrants would still have tyres which were over size, so 10.5mm then becomes 10.7mm etc.
Basically I allow "something" as a tolerance, but won't say what as that encourages others to work to the tolerance rather than the target  Bigsmile

  1. What significant advantage of performance have we seen so far with B&W / metal chassis over the other Class C cars in the last two proxies?  or is this a perceived advantage or cars that initially showed an unfair advantage but totally failed to deliver on race days.
  2. I like that idea and thought that's how things were when I entered the first proxy (Rally) so definitely a thumbs up here Thumbup
  3. I like that idea too as a team award is like an extra award for the person with the most awards
  4. We saw this years ago, we have tyre width limits and as you say 10mm becomes 10.5mm becomes 10.7mm...
This proxy is in evolution so we can expect changes Thumbup Thumbup

Asking if we can add the Scaleauto 0020 20k motor to the list.  Rest assured this is No Piranha 25k theres almost no magnetic downforce.

Scaleauto Tech1 (20k) motors are included. I think the 0020 motor has been discontinued, so a car with this fitted would need to tested on arrival. As the motor is not available to buy, I cannot test it to include it on the list.
