I have thought about introducing a new rule where you cannot have the same model as others have already chosen, so we get all different cars

That would be a nightmare to enforce and would add expense if any of the cars I was experimenting with had already been chosen.
I vote a strong NO to that idea

    I have found a problem regarding the rule whereby the body screws must be secured by tape or Blu Tac. 
One of the cars I am entering, has the front body screw in the recess for the guide. Putting anything visible, in this area will severely restrict the movement of the guide. 

This car is a Ninco and it is not the only car which would have this problem. I have attached to photo's to show where the screw is. 
Due to its location, it is highly unlikely that the screw would drop out, if it was loose. The guide would act as a stop, severely restricting its exit. Worst case, it may jam the guide at 45 deg, after a tight turn, or "tank slapper!"

I have no problem in putting a small amount of Blu Tac inside the body post, to give resistance to the screw backing off.

Surely, the tracks which insist on taped screws, must have seen this situation in the past?

A tight one for sure. I guess if there is no room for a small piece in the hole, your option would be effective, like you say its not likely to fall out without jamming the guide !

In such a case Chris, a small piece of Blu tack is indeed the best option.
I generally only use tape when there is not enough of a recess for Blu-Tack to be effective

The only issue is that I expect the track will want it visible. There's no space for Blu Tac on the screw head. It would stick against the guide. 

Yes, I use Blue Tac inside the body post, but only I know it is there, unless the car is disassembled!!
