With the Touring Proxy underway, thought I’d Star a build page for the GT Proxy in the Spring

Camaro 1
This one has ground clearance of 1.5mm high versus my original 1.15mm ride height Sunoco Camaro 1 which I ran a few years ago.  The body has also been raised since this picture to 1.0mm above the wheel to the top of fender opening although it was not built for the US TA proxy.  It’s a little porky at 103 grams so I still have a little work to do.
9/32 gearing, this will change
22.5k Predator motor
Brass chassis :
CBD wheels 15x8 all around
NSR Rubber on the rear
Slot it Zero Grip fronts

Camaro 1 if you remember, ran a few years ago at 1.15mm ground clearance with a Shark 20 on a hybrid brass chassis with a Slot It pod.  #6 won 5 or 6 races and has become the new Camaro 1 standard for me with my Camaros going forward.  This one weighs in at 89.5grams. Although it will not compete in this proxy, I’m looking to shed some weight and add a Cohoza 21 motor for just that little bit more.

A heavy car is going to be more forgiving and easy to drive consistently, lightweight thoroughbreds can be flighty and quick to forget where the track is.

Policar Ferrari F40

I've been working on a car that's never gone well, very inconsistent...Policar Ferrari F40 SW pod with SlotIt DTM motor and 12mm NSR Ultras.  I just accepted the fact it was never going to be a good race car but this proxy made me rethink as it's on the list for Event 3, Global GT.

...so I spent a lot of time sorting it out, experimenting, trying different motors and tyres.

12mm wide tyres rubbing on the engine molding took ages to eliminate.

I decided to try narrower tyres, NSR 11mm Ultras with a NSR King 21 anglewinder and it goes really nicely albeit a little unpredictable which I've always found with AW setups.

Next week the SW pod is going back in for more testing with these narrower tyres.

Yesterday I found a set of old wheels & tyres, long since discarded and made wheel inserts out of them by gluing an axle in then filing them down on a 1st cut file (aka Bastard file - yep that's a real name, google it).

Following your comments today, You will have to fit 10mm tyres now, so that should stop the rubbing problem

I measured them shortly after that post and those 11mm tyres are actually 10.3mm so should be an easy tweak.

The Cuda is close to done I’m considering swapping out the rear window with the hopes of dropping the CG  just a little more.  10x21 rear tires are taller than my Porsche 904 tires!! Fronts are also 21mm tall.  This of course creates an extremely high ride height at 2mm as it was built for the US TA Proxy where there  is a 1.5mm of tire showing between the wheel and top center of the fender.

At 59mm wide at the rea and 58mm wide at the front it’s better than the Thunderslot Shelby at 59mm rear and 55mm at the front.  It’s 40mm at its highest point versus 38.5mm for the Mustang so hopefully the front width makes up for the difference and potentially a rear and side window change. The weight is down from 103grams to 94grams, I will need to find 5 more grams for better handling, braking and acceleration.  The goal is for it to handle somewhat like a big Thunderslot Can Am car.

Looks absolutely fabulous  Sun  you will  need all round glazing to avoid penalties, but of course you can use lightweight replacements. I guess the body is a repainted Scalex, and with a B&W chassis ?

Scalextric Dodge Viper for Event 3

Amato chassis, Slotit offset pod, NSR rears. PCS fronts, Gears are 10 to 27 (at least will be when the replacement offset 27 tooth contrate arrives from Pendles, to replace the one I dropped me soldering iron on Tappingfoot

Won't be all round glazed as original Scalextric body did not have side windows.

Retractable side windows are ok, it is basically fixed glazing for windscreens, back windows, or any other “fixed glazing” which I am concerned about, and of course any basic body parts must be included headlights, front grills etc. But no need to fit delicate wing mirrors.

And don’t forget wheel inserts or wheels with integral wheel hub designs.
