Applying Body Wrap Decal to a White Kit
#61

Looks a bit better from this distance... it's a racer, it's not going to be shelfed!

To be continued...

Fresh from Pendle Slot Racing (I had a nice voucher from my brother for my birthday), and very nicely packaged!

So based on my experience with my first wrap, I shall try and apply all the Lessons Learnt to see if that results in either a better wrapping process, or a better end result.

And for the next wrap, it will be the body in the left hand box in the picture above, which if you hadn't guessed, is a Scaleauto BMW Z4 GT3!

I had thought I would do the Anime livery, but thinking about it, that livery is/was available on one of their RTR cars. So now I'm thinking I ought to do a livery that has not been produced on a finished Z4, either by Scaleauto or Scalextric. Any recommendations welcome!

BMW did a number of ‘works’ Z4s for Sim racing tournaments during lockdown. I do like a Z4 and wondered if anyone would make them into a slot car. Haven’t looked at Pattos, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he did work on some of the Sim racing stuff that was going on, rather than twiddling his thumbs...

Hello Jeremy. Nice work so far. I humbly apologize that I can't think of any sponsers at the moment...

Hmmm. No chance of anyone else having that livery I suppose, but have you been on the joy juice yourself?

Perhaps we all need some at the moment!

I'll get back to you...

Kickapoo Joy Juice used to be competition for Mountain Dew back in the 60's and 70's. It's just soda-pop. Check the recent GTO thread.  Thumbup

So, as advised by Pattos Place, I have printed a sample copy of the decal/wrap sheet. This serves a number of purposes.

Cut out the key pieces, and check for size and shape on the actual 3D body...

Will fold the pieces a bit more carefully later, but this loose fit gives a good first indication of how it goes together.

A lesson learnt from the first one I did is that you do not want the wrap to be too small, as this leave gaps between the pieces of wrap that are then, for me, difficult to disguise.

First impressions suggest the bonnet and cabin roof pieces are too small, so I need to do some measurements to come up with an enlargement percentage. And it looks like that will assist with the fit of a couple of other pieces as well, so that's good.

And another reason for the exercise is to decide whether I like the livery...and I think it will look good!
