I don't know of any UK suppliers for the Jack-Rabbit, I had to buy from North America - paid 22USD for tow mottors plus 14USD for shipping.
The allowed NC1 equivalents for the proxy race are: Ninco NC1, NC8, BWA-NC1 (old and new 2013 version), Cartrix TX-1, Pink Kar Power Plus 1, Artin white endbell 13,000 RPM/12v motor,M/T FF-050/SL1 slim can and M/T FC-130/SL1.
and H&R HRMJR1 Jack Rabbit Motor - 14,000 RPM
(some of these are not short-can types) The Ninco NC8 is very rare - I tried one once but it didn't do well.
If you are happy with a bit more performance there are some ScaleAuto motors that are short-can and drive can be taken from both ends.
Edit: For home use, 20,000 rpm is probably about as much as would be sensible.
