It was indeed a very closely matched contest
In the Ninco Class, apart from the 2 Mitsubishi Pajero's all the other entrants cars attained a 1st place in at least one round, and Andy 's BMW X5 and Mike's Bowler managed 2 1st places.

In conclusion, it was all about how the different entrant cars adapted to the different challenges. Even fairly minor changes in the trial stages could influence which cars benefited. So in effect over the entire series all the cars had their moments and disappointments.
But of course that was the very reason to run them with different hosts and with different challenges.
