i think its time to switch from the brass guide wire ferules , to the more secure grub screws
and a lack of suspension on a proper rough terrain track is most likely the Datsun's Achilles heel ( sorry hosts )

the problem with the eyelet is that it is too loose in the guide shoe, I think because you used thin soft braids, I will try fitting some thicker braids to see if it holds better.
The truck seems somehow less stable this year and is de-slotting more easily, but shortening it did stop the "jack knife" effect over the bridges etc.
PS. I have replaced those thin braids with thicker ones, so that the eyelet is now fitting tighter, so hopefully it won't let you down on the next rounds. I think sometimes you do somethings automatically to improve the car running, but these old SCX cars were never designed to be fitted with smooth thin braids.
