My timing system has developed a very strange fault. One lane keeps throwing up completely random lap times, it happens when there is no car on the track to trigger any. When a car is circulating it also does it in between genuine times.
It is not a program glitch as both RC and LapTimer 2000 do it. It only affects one lane, the other works normally and I have tried switching both the sensors and the overhead LEDs over - same lane plays up so they are not at fault.
Also it only occurs when the pit garage lighting system is switched on. Turn it off and everything works normally. I have changed nothing in the wiring etc and it has only started recently. I can't see why there should be any interaction between the timing system and the garage lights so I am stumped. Any ideas folks?
My favourite era is pre-wing and pre-sponsor, so my track is set in an undefined era from the mid 50's through late 60's.
It is in no way Le Mans, but is simply intended to convey that "feel."
The buildings are made from foamboard, with an onlay of printed textures.
Figures are both 1/32 and 1/43 (used for "forced perspective").
I'll post a few photos at a time.

Hello, and thank you for a wonderfully member-supported group. I have been slot racing since a 3v battery set I got for Christmas in the late 50s, then went on to have Strombecker and Aurora, and finally I have built a Le Mans tribute track with Scalextric. I will be posting pictures of it as soon as I can, if there might be an interest. I will start slow.
I have been lucky enought to get press credential for three Grand Prix, and two CART races, as well as spectating at more races than anyone from Texas shuld be able to get to.
I'm going to try to attach a teaser picture with this post.
Evening
I have one of the SCX Rally Chrono sets, plus lots of the Super sliding curves. Great fun, and different.
I normally use an SCX controller, which is hopeless ? Flat out or nothing..... I purchased an adaptor from Pendle slot racing which allows me to use a DS controller, WOW, such a difference.
On Saturday at our Annual Club Champs the 4 DS controllers were being used on the routed circuit, so the Rally stage got the crappy SCX controller.
Basic question is.... Can a standard Scalextric controller be wired to work on the SCX Chrono set.
If so is there a connector available anywhere to purchase, or would cutting the SCX connector of the controller and fitting to the Scalextric controller be possible.
Yes, I could purchase another DS controller, but have lots of Scalextric ones doing nothing.
Any help or advice great fully appreciated.

Unfortunately not an uncommon sight at some slot car clubs - a driver shouting at a marshal because they crashed or are generally having a bad day. It's unnecessary, unpleasant and - if marshals feel hassled - can lead to actual marshalling errors.
However, it seems this unpleasant side of slot car racing has transferred over to Formula One...
In an interview before the Qatar Grand Prix, Red Bull boss Christian Horner said this about an incident at the end of qualifying that meant his driver was penalised for ignoring double waved yellow flags that were covering a crashed car...
Quote:I think it’s just a rogue marshal that stuck a flag out. He’s not instructed to by the FIA — they’ve got to have control of the marshals. It’s as simple as that. That’s a crucial blow in the championship for us. We’re now starting P7 at a track you can’t overtake at. That is massive.
His comments didn't go down well and he was summoned to the stewards after the race...
Following a reprimand for breaking the International Sporting Code and ordered to attend a stewarding course in the New Year, Horner had this to say...
Quote:I’d like to make it clear that the marshals do a wonderful job. My frustration was not with the marshals but at the circumstance. If any offence was taken by any individual then I apologize for that.
I'm guessing most marshals will have been shocked and 'offended' by Horner's apparent green light for drivers at all levels of the sport to ignore marshals instructions to slow down - after all, it might only be a "rogue marshal". Whatever the rights and wrongs of the current discussion about how F1 drivers should race each other, questioning whether they should comply with marshals' flags is a massive safety issue - risking the lives of drivers and marshals. I'm glad Horner had his knuckles rapped by the stewards.
Back to slot cars, where the stakes aren't so high... I do like a club that challenges the abuse of marshals. Ours always has. And there's nothing wrong with encouraging a polite "thank you" after a car is re-slotted, even if it's not the quickest piece of marshalling ever seen. I wonder if post-pandemic slot car clubs will be kinder, more easy-going and respectful places?
Pictures of the shoot out entrants and technical information.
1 Lamborghini
1 Viper
1 Ferrari
2 Porsche
2 AMG Mercedes
5 Aston Martin
6 Corvette
6 Ford GTE
Final numbers look like 13 available spots with 25 cars competing. I am still waiting for one shoot out car, Courtney's car. We had no mail delivery all of last week due to serious flooding causing catastrophic destruction. Hoping some roads open up this week and life can somewhat get back to normal soon.

Teamslot PDV01013004 Ford Escort MkII RS2000 X-Pack - Modified Ford Series 2021 - Jamie Gough. Available 24 November 2021.
Teamslot originally made Jamie Gough's X-Pack as a UK exclusive and it was released last year with the new TS-13 30k motor as an anglewinder - a total monster of a slot car that sold out very quickly. As well as being a star in Ford enthusiast circles, Jamie's Escort is raced in the UK Modified Ford Series - of which Jamie was a founder member back in 2019. Scalextric have sponsored the series this year and that will continue into 2022 - a relationship which spawned a slot car model of Andy Pipe's fabulous Mk1 Escort. Rumour has it, there will be more Scalextric Fords from the series in the future.
Jamie - and the crew at HT Racing - made some changes to the car for 2021. Most notable are the gold BBS wheels and the big Zakspeed-style rear wing. This updated car is the basis of the new model from Teamslot - a world-wide release with the standard inline TS-12 25k motor and aluminium rear hubs. Still a great car to drive. Planned as a Christmas surprise, the new model wasn't the best-kept secret... Jamie was understandably excited about it when I spoke to him for an article in September's Slot Car Magazine.
Jamie does like his slot cars. As a youngster (he's not exactly ancient now) he raced on Thursday nights at New Addington Scalextric Club, near Croydon. He's now introducing his young family to slot cars - although they don't get to run his Escort yet. Jamie told me about how the first Teamslot model came about...
Quote:It was unbelievable! First of all, Simon from Scalextric approached me at Brand Hatch a few years ago, he said “I’d love to do you car, but we just haven’t got the moulds” – and that must have been the day they decided to do Andy’s car. Then Steve at Teamslot got in touch and it went from there. It’s a real privilege – not a lot of people can say they’ve got a slot car of your own motor car. It was a long time in the making, but when I saw it, I really couldn’t ask for anything better – it’s exactly the same as the real car. The detail is unbelievable on it. My mum was happy as well!
And very soon, he'll have two models of his car! It can't get much better than that.
The real Modified Ford Series is great grassroots racing. Under the leadership of Escort racer Paul Nevill, they have set up a programme that holds races around the country and caters to Ford enthusiasts who want to race hard against other who love and value their Fords. The grids are pretty special and the noise sensational...

The Teamslot Escort X-Pack 'Modified Ford Series 2021' has just been announced this weekend, so prices and pre-orders will be a little slow to catch up. However, expect the car to retail at the standard Teamslot price of £45-55 and it will be shipped from Barcelona next Wednesday.
Fly A2030 Lancia 037 Safari Rally 1986 - Criticos / Kravos. RRP £62.95. Available soon
Fly A2030AR Lancia 037 Safari Rally 1986 - Criticos / Kravos - Weathered. RRP £64.95. Available soon
Fly have this new livery on their Lancia Rally 037 in production - and it will be available soon in both clean and weathered versions. The new model is of the semi-works Lancia entered into the 1986 Safari Rally and driven by local Kenyan drivers Greg Criticos and Marzio Kravos - they finished ninth overall and the second Lancia on the road.
Lancia took five of the older 037s to Kenya in 1986. Although the Delta S4 had showed impressive form since its debut at the end of 1985, the rear-wheel-drive 037 was considered a more robust choice for the punishing terrain of the Safari. The S4 hadn't been tested in Africa and was far more complex to maintain and repair. There were three fully-supported works cars for Markku Alén and Ilkka Kivimäki, Massimo Biasion and Tiziano Siviero, plus local pairing Vic Preston Jnr and John Lyall - the latter crew had tested the 037 on national events. Two identical Lancias were driven by Criticos / Kravos and John Hellier / Dave Williamson - initially looking after themselves, but after Biasion and Preston retired, they gained the benefit of full factory support.
The Safari Rally was a brutal test of endurance and an event where simplicity of engineering and intelligent driving often paid dividends - although luck was also a big factor in success. The Fly model features the bull bars, spotlights and spare tyres that were essential equipment back in the 80s. In 1986, Toyota continued Japanese domination of the race with a 1-2. Alén and Kivimäki were best of the rest in third, recovering from a big off and an injury to Alén's hand during the first leg and then hitting a young spectator - Alén used his prize money to set up a trust fund for the girl’s education.
While it was Alén delivering the fireworks for Lancia, the solid drive by Criticos and Kravos added two points to the manufacturers' points tally - enough to put Lancia in the lead of the championship after four rounds. However, at the end of a traumatic and controversial year, the French brand would clinch back-to-back titles.
The Criticos / Kravos Lancia is another fabulous livery to add to Fly's range of rally cars. Both versions are rumoured to be ready to ship - so keep and eye out for them at your favourite Fly retailers.
