The Awards Ceremony
The 2021 SlotRacer Festive Awards Ceremony | Part #3 |
In the third, and final part of our awards ceremony, we have two very special awards to present. These represent the ultimate recognition for those who have gone above and beyond the call of duty.
Your Majesty, my Lords, Ladies and Gentlemen, please allow me to introduce the first ever entries into the SlotRacer "Hall of Fame!
Hall of Fame
Inaugural Inductee
Our first ever inductee to the SlotRacer Hall of fame, is a man you will, no doubt, be well aware of...
He has of course kept us all up to date with the latest news from the slot car world, with regular reports both in The Digest, and on the Forum. With around 120 news articles this year alone, just on the Forum, the numbers themselves are impressive. But what is even better is that those reports are so knowledgable and detailed, with a full breakdown of new cars or upcoming events, plentiful photos, and usually including relevant historical details, and even videos. Since his first report for us in 2019, we've been spoiled.
As if that wasn't enough, he's also organised his own HO Drag Proxy Series which is now in it's second year, and has featured some outstanding coverage. He has also run the Triumph TR7 Proxy, and been an integral member of several other proxy racing series, including the WHO Winter Rally Sprint, the Brighton to John O'Groats Road Race, and the Extreme Slotting series.
Phew, I'm getting out of breath just listing everything he's done, and I haven't even mentioned his regular Facebook posts for SlotRacer, or the popular Worthing club which he's helped to build up over the years.
So please put your hands together, and welcome to the stage...
Mr Andy Player
He ain't here Dashcam!
He's what??? I mean, well... where is he??
How the heck should I know! Maybe he's washing his hair tonight, huh!
Did either of you remember to let him know that he would be receiving this prestigious honour tonight?
Aaaah, well, ahem...!!! Harumph. Let's err... just move on, shall we?
Hall of Fame
Second Inductee
Our second inductee to the SlotRacer Hall of fame, is a man who needs no introduction, but will of course get one anyway.
His skills in building some of the most iconic, most intricately detailed, and most inspiring slot tracks is legendary. From the sweltering heat and dust of the Dakar, to the ice and snow of Sweden, from the terrific Dutch trio track, to the bucolic byways of a typical English village, this man's scenic tracks are simply superb.
His outstanding work, over a sustained period, have produced the finest single collection of scenic slot tracks that we've ever seen, anywhere. Not only are the basic concepts well executed, but the fine details mean that every area of his tracks are well worth close inspection. In short every track is an inspiration.
So please put your hands together, and welcome to the stage...
Errr, Roxy? He ain't here neither, ahem.
Oh no!!!! Not again boys.
Well okay... let me rephrase that. Ladies and gentlemen, without welcoming him to the stage, please put your hands together for the man of the moment, the apex of his art, the undisputed heavyweight of the highway, and an undoubted master track maker of much merit...
Mr Hub Habets.
Well, what we lacked in the award winner's attendance there, we certainly made up for with Roxy's eloquent words. Do you think anyone will have noticed that we messed up Trackcall?
Nah, they'll just be pleased that they didn't have to listen to the never ending acceptance speeches. Yada, yada, blah, blah, I'd like to thank my family and friends, and so on, and on, and on, and on, and on.
That's a fair point actually, I'm glad too. Was it really an accident that you forgot to invite the recipients?
I'm saying nothing Dashcam, absolutely nothing. Zero, zilch, zip, nada, nothing. My lips are sealed.
