Here’s this week’s blast through the latest news.

There is plenty of rally news this week, with four new Mitsubishi Lancers, a Galant, a Ford Escort, several BMWs, and a custom built mountain rally track. Plus we have the latest events, videos, and our photo of the week.

Slot Cars

• Scalextric Ford Escort Mk1 Scalextric have announced that the two new liveries for the Ford Escort RS1600 will be in stock soon. The models represent the Embassy Team cars of Hannu Mikkola and Timo Mäkinen who finished fourth and fifth in the 1971 RAC Rally.

• Scaleauto Mitsubishi Lancer Evo V Scaleauto have released photos of two forthcoming Mitsubishi Lancer Evo V cars. The models reproduce the cars driven to third and fourth places in the 1998 Rallye Catalunya by Tommy Mäkinen and Richard Burns.

• Scaleauto Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI Scaleauto have also posted photos of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI models, which recreate the cars of Tommy Mäkinen and Freddy Loix who finished third and fourth in the Rallye Catalunya the following year, 1999.

• Fly BMW M1 Frank Stella Rafa Fly has posted photos of the forthcoming BMW M1 Frank Stella Art Car. The original car was the second whose livery was designed by Stella, but this was not part of the official BMW Art Car project. It did however race in the 1976 24 Hours of Le Mans, driven by Peter Gregg and Brian Redman.

• Avant Slot BMW 2002 Avant Slot have released updated photos of the next three liveries of the BMW 2002 Ti. Coming soon.

• Avant Slot Mitsubishi Galant VR4 Avant Slot have posted some 3D renderings of the new Group A Mitsubishi Galant VR4, which is about to go to the moulding stage of production.

Tracks & Scenery

• 1/43 Mountain Rally Track Lloyd is building a new 1/43 scale custom built track. The theme is a mountain rally track with tunnels, tight corners, and typically steep elevations. Definitely one to follow.

Featured Track Plan

• Grizedale Grizedale Forest was one of the most iconic stages of the old RAC Rally, providing up to 16 miles of uninterrupted, flat out forestry tracks for the competitors. Quite a challenge on a cold, dark, winter’s day in Britain. Our Scalextric track plan uses many of those original forest tracks to build a large and challenging circuit.
