"Senna" Camel lotus white kit build
#1

I had a request to build one of the NSR 86/89 cars in the Aryton Senna "Camel" Lotus 99T livery. The car will be raced on wood, so the heavy FK-180 was swapped out for a Piranha FC-30, and NSR rubber tire are used. The stock pinion/Crown were replaced with an MB Slot pinion, and a Slot-it Crown. The rear axle has been swapped out for a Koford axle.

I really do not like using the motor shaft to control gear mesh, so, the shaft was cut, and spacers were used on either side of the Crown to control lateral play........using spacers between the Crown, and each rear axle bushing ensures that the mesh will never be affected,..as is the potential case when spacers are used on the outside of the rear axle bushings

The car was painted with Tamiya "Camel" yellow, with decals from Virage, Indycals and the decal box.........the "Senna" helmet is from Interlagos miniatures, and coupled with a few decals on Senna's driving suit, really make the car.

Cheers

Alan, It was the new owners responsibility to add weight ........he has apparently already done so ,.......and it has won its first race at our local commercial wood track.  Thumbup

While all of the motors most commonly used for 1/32 cars have some level of magnetic leak (downforce), the ceramic magnets generally used in the vast majority of FC-130 motors provide little (5/6 gms at best), and on 95% of wood tracks (without magna braid) the "motor magnetic downforce" is a non issue.
