Pioneer '37 Dodge Legends White Kits
#1

Fresh from body assembly.
I did have a fight with the front grill, its bottom tab was fouling the chassis, so in the end I bent it up inside, then had to re bend the rest to fit properly as it doesn't take much to pull it out of shape !
Once I learned the door rails were a bit of a flex to fit, it all went together easily enough.

The " Ford Arizona Gold" isn't quite as Bronze as I had hoped, the perils of using pics of real cars on the internet !
And I still can't seem to get the finish I like with these Hycote rattle cans, I need Halfords to open up so I can get back to what I know, or perhaps I'll try some Tamiya or Humbrol spary cans next time !

Since I took the pics, I have painted the inside of the wheel arches and any visible posts matt black.

Decals designed by me and sent to be printed by Colin of C&C Designs.

And just to be a a little different, I thought I would do the wheels smoked silver:

The plan is to keep the chassis stock, apart from moding for a Scaleauto guide (I thought the white kits came with the extra Pioneer 7mm guides as per the normal cars, apparently not  Bigsmile ).

I will be swapping out the motors for 13k units I got from China to try, and using the above tyres as they have a little smaller dimensions than the stock items.
Those are WASP urethanes #13 for Pioneer Dodge Chargers.
I also have the same fitment from Paul Gage, but they are closer in size to the Pioneer tyres, so I am hoping the WASP grip as nicely as PG's do on my track as I prefer the smaller size for these cars.

Finally got into the mancave to finish up  Wrench

Settled on 1mm offset front bearings, 0.5mm offset rear, with WASP Front tyres, Paul Gage rears (slightly taller for top end on the slower (13k rated @12v) motor and slightly better grip).
total 7.5 grams weight on the hatch and a Scaleauto guide using a modified WSR Scalexrtric guide adaptor.

And onto the track  Sun

Thank you Top Down.

A note to anyone else building the Dodge kit, I found with my two:

1. Front metal grill needs either careful trimming or folding of lower tab so as to not interfere with chassis.
2. Step/door rails need to be flexed to fit, I found the best way was to position bottom in hole and flex the side fixing down to the hole, then heat melt both.
3. The rear body post does not meet the chassis, so keep an eye on the rear when screwing the chassis on or else you will distort it.

Of course running some body float eliminates the last point anyways ;)

I also trimmed the axles so I had less tyre outside the bodywork, as I felt there looks too much on the stock setup of these cars. I am running 61mm front, 62mm rear to tyre outside edges on this pair.

Just off the bench after decalling up using custom-sized 'Polecat Decals' from the States. I'm mightily impressed with them. Tough but ultra-thin, they bore a lot of shuffling about, even removal and trying on another car without grief before I finally settled on placement.

I will be ordering a couple more sets as, having done these five, my original choice of decals for the remaining two, a red Chevy Sedan and black Dodge Coupe (not shown) are not really suitable. Just a poor choice by me, nothing to do with the decals themselves, which are already in the Spares box.

Same here. Only added parts were shimming of the guide pillar, plus a nut on the top to reduce slop. Wheels glued to axles. Wheels and tyres trued. Might add a little weight up front but last time they were run - without the guide tweaking but with body rock - they were just fine.  Thumbup
