This car has been built for an upcoming CanAm proxy (1966/1974), and it looks like there will be entries from a few countries.

While I do normally prefer to scratchbuild a chassis time constraints this year (coupled with my own laziness),..I have built a couple of TSlot chassis'. One will be sent to a fellow club member, but, as they are virtually identical in performance, I have not decided which one I will enter.

The first is an anglewinder, with an NSR 22K, silicone damped pod/body mount, rear axle brace, MRSlotcar gearing, and NSR Ultras.



The second is a Sidewinder (although this is a bit of a misnomer as the Tslot pod has a 2 degree motor angle),...with a Piranha 21K motor, and basically the same remaining bits as the first.



To avoid multiple same liveries, I do like to paint something a bit different, and while this is a fantasy livery, I think it does look period correct. I dad make/add a few bits.

That's an amazing amount of lead. I race mine on our wooden club track with a tiny bit behind the guide, and it wins! (sometimes...)

You should enter the proxy !!!! 

At 74 gms., I expect that this car will be somewhere in the middle (weight wise) of the 30+ cars entered.

While the axle uprights on this "hard" pod are certainly more stiff than on the stock pod (and definitely stiffer than any Slot-it pod), there is still some movement, so reducing this movement, is never a waste of time. While reducing/eliminating any movement between the pinion (motor shaft) and the two axle bushings is extremely beneficial (no axle binding, improved gear mesh, reduced/no chatter), it is certainly more critical on higher grip tracks, grippier tires, stronger motors etc.

So much lead ! I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it.
I never put some in my Thunderslot cars with their original chassis and they have the records of our long and very fast Ninco track at our club, far ahead of the NSR Mosler. Same at home on my little personal Scalextric track.

This proxy will be run on a series of wood tracks,...not plastic !!

At the real 1:1 race track. Leaded cars usually run better than unleaded cars. 

Sorry I couldn't help myself. You walked into that one. 

The ammount of weight added depends on many variables. Tire traction, surface contours, motor power, etc. I know from seeing Chris's cars that some are heavy and others are light. It's not that easy to make one car that will win every race, on every track.

A little weight might slow a car down in the straight to have an advantage in the corners. An advantage in the corners means less offs. It's not always the fastest car that wins. It's usually the one with the least offs. That's how it is at the local club.

The important thing to note here is how well the weight is trimmed, and placed.
