Targa Florio Road Race Proxy - Results

(10th-Feb-26, 10:48 PM)BAracer Wrote:  Thank you for that! Not sure it was for the Maserati's performance, but hopefully the Capri and Alfa provided the drivers with something.

Have ordered a chassis for a revised entry in the next proxy, so look out for that...

No, it was bribery for you not to enter the Maserati in the next Road Race  Bigsmile

But actually randon number selector.

Thank you Graham
Thank you to the sponsor Angelo Amato

If I can get it to run half as well as my Slot Rally GB TR7 with an Amato chassis, then the Touring Car Proxy will be fun!

I love puttering with gears

Hi Graham, our cars arrived this morning, many thanks.

It's nice to have them home after the carnage they've been through.  Besides the broken windscreen, there's obvious signs of plastic stress on the green Jag but all seems well.

...looking forward to getting them back on our tracks.  Thumbup

Having been out of the loop, but looking forward to helping Brian (CMOTD) run his hosting round of the proxy, I was saddened to hear about DHL's carnage.
The effort Graham goes to to organise and pack these is above and beyond, and I know how meticulously these cars are set-up by the entrants, so I genuinely feel for you all.

Yes it has been distressing, but actually the blame rests on DPD shoulders not DHL, although I don’t necessarily believe they would have treated our cars any better.

And it’s of no consolation to read on the HRW Forum website that the current Hypercars USA Proxy has apparently suffered a similar experience with damaged cars due to courier handling  Tappingfoot

We're just going to have to protect the cars better because this will happen again.

One of the problems is weight, currently the box with cars weights just under 10kg which is manageable, if you increase it to 15kg then probably just about for one person, and if 20kg then definitely not practical for someone wanting to take it to the local post office. I  have seen some wooden boxes using 5mm plywood of the same size which are 7kgs in weight. Possibly reducing that to 3mm Plywood would reduce the weight but not recommended for external boxes of that size. Some some kind of internal liner or smaller case which fits inside the cardboard box seems more practical. I have thought of making the 5 foamed boxes out of plywood rather than as currently foam board but this gives us the same overall weight issue.

After alot of searching I have come across this plastic container 3.8kgs empty.

It will just fit into a standard delivery box size and the lid clips on, hopefully keeping all the cars inside safe.
