Global GT Challenge Proxy - Official Results

Wavegreen Good Morning,

I have repackaged the cars in a new box as the original one was looking a little worn, and DPD should be collecting them today.

Next stop is the Manx Club in the Isle of Man for the 7th Round.

Car Inspection
I had a good look at the cars before transferring them and after Round 6 the following issues were found.
RoadRunners - Revoslot Toyota GT-ONE - Rear wing out of location on one side, which was push fit back in.
ALS Toyota GT-ONE -Revoslot Rear wing was completely off, whilst I could relocate one side, the other side had a broken location tag on the wing, so I have put this with the other loose parts in the bag at home.
Brumos Ferrari 333SP- the rear difuser was off, on inspection it similarly could be only relocated one side, the other had a broken pin, so this also has been left out of the next rounds.
Equipe Trelawney  Joerst Porsche - Rear wing was off but could be relocated back on with a little Tamiya Cement.
Demon Tweeks - Rear wing was off, this looks difficult to repair with different parts of the wing struts broken, so I have left this out also.
Mike B - Porsche 911 GTR EVO - Rear light cluster had fallen out. Looks difficult to re-fit without opening car, so this is also in the bag of loose parts.

In some instances can we have spoilers and diffusers optional? It seems like a lot of work for a Race Director and track hosts to bag up and reglue parts every other race.  Thank you for setting my parts for both cars aside and for alerting us as builders, what’s happening with our cars.

I think for this theme, sadly flimsy wings were always likely to be vulnerable, but the LMP type cars to me would be lacking in character without them at least for the start of the proxy.
But I certainly have the most rear wings in the bag then in any previous proxy, so maybe not a good idea  to have an entire proxy based on these cars.

On the back of this proxy and the flimsy wings, yesterday I decided to finally fix the wing on my SlotIt Gr.C Jag.

A more solid centre mount and two clear plastic attachments, one at each end of the underside of the wing glued to the bodyshell.

The wing on that car has been flimsy for far too long, ShoeGoo'd on, rubber mat strips glued on...neither are permanent enough and the rubber perished.

As you say they look wrong without a wing, a bit like putting on your best suit for a wedding but not wearing any trousers.

I have attended many National slot car competitions, and basically they have always allowed cars to be entered without fine detail like wing mirrors, ariels etc, but not without rear wings or other basic body parts, which has to be fixed if they come off.....and they always do in close competition.

The best option is to offer different events in a proxy, so entrants can choose if they want to enter cars with or without wings from the start. Normally I would have done this.

No worries, I’ll learn to pin spoilers on some cars and figure it out on others.  Or I’ll look for a few 20k motors instead to help.

Group C & LMP as part of a proxy is more than welcome, they are wonderful cars and make great slot cars...losing a wing isn't the end of the world, they'll mend.

I think the rear wing on the Revoslot Dodge Viper was already loose when the car initially arrived at the start of the proxy, so not surprised that it became difficult to keep in place. The rear defuser on the Ferrari 333SP was not expected to come off but I guess it got a rear end impact during the full on race round at NERCS.

The next proxy will have the cars running singly, so theoretically should be less likely to have damaged parts……perhaps
