Slotting Car Proxy Club

We only allow pre-2021 DTM in our Saloons class as that's now a GT3 series.

Yes there won’t be any GT or Gr4 or Gr5 cars permitted.

when I have worked out the details I will make a announcement in July, but basically it should be a 3 Group Proxy based on production cars which have entered Touring car Championships like the BTCC, BTC, WTC, WTCC, European Touring and Bathurst 1000, so we get a good mixture of cars.

My initial thoughts is to have 3 Groups/Events
1) Under 2.0 Litre (Pre 88)
2) Over 2.0 Litre (Pre 88)
3) Modern 1990 to present.

Not sure about the composition of Classes as yet, although no more than two for each group.
And not decided what part the Slot it DTM or the Revoslot Gr2 cars might play in it.

I am thinking for this one to restrict the max rpm motor list to 21k rpm, for all the Groups.

Sounds good. Surely Slot It DTM would fit into Modern 1990 to present and the Revo Gr2 cars would just come under Under 2.0 litre pre 88. What have you got against cars from 1989?  Bigsmile

It’s early days  Talking
But the answer is that regarding the time frames they are approximate based on what slot cars would fit into each group and construction class type. And I am sure that 89 cars were still racing in 1990. There was some reason for the 88 cut off, but at the moment I can’t remember until I start allocating cars into Groups etc. It might have been something to do with actual racing Touring car Class changes ?
I quite like the club event at South Manchester Club based on Scalextric “ Super Touring cars” with 3d chassis and had this in mind for the Modern Group, but extend the range of similar Scalextric and SCX cars to date. So not sure if the “Slot it” DTM cars would be appropriate and if so whether or not to fix them as standard cars class ?
The Revoslots if permitted would fit into the Under 2.O Litre car Group, but would we get that many as a Standard Class  on their own, or should it be just part of a mixed group.

The over 2.0 Litre Grouping would be a chance to bring the Muscle cars together from BTCC, Trans Am & Bathurst 1000
I am still mulling these questions over in my mind, and in some part the current Proxy competition may be helpful in pointing me in the right direction.

Touring Cars Challenge -Further consideration
I want to keep the Modern Group essentially a "3d chassis " construction class, based on Scalex, SCX or Ninco bodies, so there will not be any Slot it models permitted in this.
But the Over 2.0 Litre group will be an "Open Class" and with a  pre 1990 era would allow at least for the Slot it Mercedes 190E and the Nissan Skyline GT-R to run against the Muscle cars. The Slot it Alfa 155, Merc C Class and the Calibra would not be permitted as they arrived to late for them to be considered within this era group.
But Ninco made both the Calibre and Alfa 155 which would be allowed in the Modern Group fitted with 3d chassis.
The under 2.0 litre Group would permit the use of Revoslots but probably not as a separate Class (as there would not be very many) not made up my mind as to whether this should be a controlled or open Group, perhaps we might get another Slot it car similar to the Datsun by then ?

Touring Cars Challenge - Further Consideration Pt2
So I now have in my mind:
Event 1 Under 2.0 Litre Touring Cars (1960-1989)
Class 1.1 -Standard Revoslot Cars
Class 1.2 - Other construction cars than above (with restrictions TBA)

Event 2 Over 2.0 Litre Touring cars (1960-1989)
Class 2.1 - Modified/ Standard Cars (Only Scalex, SCX, Ninco, Pioneer or Fly body based)
Class 2.2 - Other construction cars than above (with restrictions TBA)

Event 3 Modern Touring cars (1990- to date)
Class 3.1 - Modified/ Standard Cars (Only Scalex, SCX, Ninco or Fly body based)
Class 3.2 - Only cars fitted with 3d chassis permitted (as above with 3d chassis or slot it adjustable chassis and slot it motor mount)

The following slot cars would be of Restricted Construction
Revoslot based cars - Only Revoslot parts to be used (except screws, wires and braids)
Slot It based cars- Only Slot it parts to be used (except screws, wires and braids)
B&W or metal chassis cars- (Scalex, SCX, Ninco, Fly or Resin body based)
TA71 lightweight body cars - must use associated TA71 chassis.

Motors - to be listed
Only S-Can, Short Can or SCX (old style Can motors) permitted
Any orientation
Max 21k rpm

Comment
I am open to questions, suggestions which might assist me getting the rules easily understandable and improved ?
The dimensional restrictions need to worked out as yet for axle widths and tyre widths etc.
Only the Slot it Datsun, Mercedes 190E and Nissan Skyline would qualify for inclusion based on this plan.

A few things to mull over there.

What about slimline motors which have been mentioned a few times in this thread?

I don’t think slimline motors has been raised in regard to this Touring car Proxy ??

And I can’t really see why anyone would use them for these later-ish era cars.
I think maybe for 50’s cars they are more appropriate, but to keep things simple and for closer racing I think a narrow band of similar motors is sufficient for this next proxy.

Are Pioneer bodies included also? Will 22.5 motors be considered and what about flat 6 motors?

Yes I have now added Pioneer car brand to the over 2.0 Litre Event above, I know the Mustang Knotchback did compete in Touring Car competitions, but not sure about the Dodge Charger ? I have not compiled a Car list as yet, but basically any car must have competed in any Global Touring Car competition.

The idea of restricting the choice of motors to 21K rpm is to narrow the motor performance difference between the cars competing between the Revoslots, Slot it, Modified Standard & Procars. As in this proxy I would see all these car Classes racing against each other.... perhaps ?
As always I am open to persuasion at this stage, so I am not totally fixed on this "rpm" issue as yet, kinda hoping to be inspired by the results coming from the current proxy. I will be considering this issue before I set the "Draft rules" in July, but I would like to at least restrict the motor types to S-Bell or Short Can.

I guess your preference from your perspective in the US , is at least to able to use the Predator 22.5K rpm motor ?
