Targa Florio Road Race Slot Car Proxy -Official Launch
#81

Why not assign points to the fastest lap time on rally stages, similar to circuit points determined by your finishing order.  10 for 1st (or a # depending on the # of cars in the event or class) down to 1 for participating.

I think on this kind of proxy with different track types, and measuring techniques it always difficult to get a unified approach to fixing a standard method. As long as the measurement is accurate and truly represents the comparative performance of the cars I tend to like to leave it up to the hosts to decide on what works best for them.
So I feel is best to apply the points to the finishing positions of the cars as measured by the host.

But I am very grateful for your input and open to any suggestions which are offered.

Fastest lap time only works for qually, circuit and Rally has to be cumulative trying to avoid those dreaded deslots.

... unless you meant cumulative Tony.

I can't believe it took as long as it did to get Race Coordinator to run as fixed number of laps but give results as overall cumulative time with shortest cumulative time as the winner.

I had to search SlotForum threads for the settings then sift through the info then try a few things in demo mode.

So if anyone else wants to run RC as a fixed number of laps here's the settings that work for me:

...and the race results shown for the demo I experimented with:

This post is also for my own use in future if I forget where I saved the screenshots

We have a Targa Florio night in three weeks, this will make life MUCH easier for scoring as we prefer to use a Ninco scorer on the Rally stages with a set number of laps which gives total run time for each car.

That’s exactly what I said, keeping the points system regardless of timing method or laps.

Yes, exactly Kevan, lowest cumulative time to complete the circuit or to complete X amount of laps.  Sorry, I thought I was making it simple.

I meant to ask this question earlier, as the 250 GT SWB Ferrari and C1 Corvette, both from Mr Slotcar are arriving hopefully soon. I really don’t believe either car will compete well in Group2 with 18k-20k slimline motors agains other brass chassis cars or 3D printed ones.  Have you given any thought to these two cars?

It's all speculation until the cars actually show up. I have high hopes for my preorder C1 white kit.

The design is very slick in that it has adjustable pod float, and body float. Both are separate adjustments.

I was lucky enough to hold the prototype C1 in my hands while visiting Ernie's shop. It looks slightly wide for an early Corvette. A great slot car platform.

It is a good question, and it would be great to see one or two in the proxy. In principal from my perspective they appears to be promoted as a "ProCar" type of model for racing and I know here in England they would be considered to be used at National Racing level under "free choice of motor" rules.

So I will would still characterize the model as a metal chassis Procar, therefore in essence a Group 2D class car. However I will make a concession on the Slimline motor size and will change the rules to permit a 25k rpm slimline motor.

Just for general info:

Our small sports/saloons class is for narrow cars as I've mentioned before and currently you need to build something special to be competitive...or race a Revo Gr.2. and we classify all Revos as 'Standard Class' but they must use the original motor, chassis, body/interior.

If these MRSlotcar releases are 54mm or less across the tyre walls I'm expecting them to give the Revo Gr2's a real hard time when they eventually show up on our track (one of our club members is a Ferrari nut and will WANT ONE!).
