Touring Cars Slotting - Official Results & Reports

That's a super track facility you have there  Thumbup

Roughwood is a little less flowing than Conington Park, with a couple of hairpins that require good cornering and brakes.
25 laps each in Blue Lane was the chosen format, as I don't have a variable PSU, it was run at 13.8v

If you want to get an idea of the layout, Brian and Steve did a few "for video" slow laps a while back: Link

Onto the Scores:

Watching Brian racing the cars, it was clear the Mustang was a lot trickier around its home track than the Porsche of Brumos, I was surprised to discover the Mustang won !

I drove this event as none of my cars were in it. I thought the DeadHeads Rover was very nice, but lacked power, the Bangers Racing BMW certainly didn't and that gave it the edge. Harrisons Racers Camaro noisily took the 3rd step on the podium.

This event unfortunately found some gremlins for BA Racers Capri, it developed some connectivity issues early on, but we couldn't see any obvious problems, when it got to the stage of not even making a lap without stopping we decided to retire it.
I have since opened her up, and could still see nothing obvious. I did take out the guide ferules, pushed the wires fully home and reinstalled, this looks to have cured the issue even though nothing looked amiss there !
I noticed they were fixed in with a drop of glue so I put a drop of classic uhu on with a cocktail stick. I set the body screws as I think they were. If you know the exact turns back from snug I can check/adjust them to your exact settings before it goes to the next round.

Sams superfast Skyline ran my Calibra very close for the top spot with ManxBrians Skyline right up there in pace.

Deadheads Audi A5 was easily the quickest of this field, with Mountain Views Astra being a good chunk ahead of the third place BMW from Ruscillo Racing which just held off Bangers Racing's Alfa 156.

As Brian said, thanks to all for letting us play with your cars, and Graham for organising another great Proxy to take part in  Thumbup

Many thanks to both CMOTD and Savage GT for running their respective home based wood tracks for Rounds 5 & 6. Especially to CMOTD who I know had a particularly difficult year health wise, and I am delighted that he's recovered sufficiently to manage these Rounds of the proxy  Thumbup

Originally planned to run them over two weeks, but circumstances means we lost effectively a month in running time, in fact originally this was supposed to have been the last Round of the series. However we are getting there gradually and I am confident that we can complete the series mid December.

So for the updated Overall Points for Rounds 1-5

 Pitlane Review Rounds 1-5
It seems quite along time since these cars have seen a routed wood track, and of course some cars are best suited to such tracks. Originally I had planned the schedule to more or less alternate between wood and plastic, but again another consequence caused by the delays. So it was expected that some cars which have struggled a little on plastic now had a real chance to catch up on these two routed wood tracks for rounds 5 and 6.

Tourist (Event 1)
1st Place - Savage GT - Mustang (95pts)
2nd Place - Brumos RSR - Porsche 911 (72pts)
3rd Place - RoadRunners - Galaxie ( 63pts)
Another case of the Mustang very much outperforming the rest of the field. The Porsche and Galaxie maintaing positions.
The final 3 in the cars probably having a more interesting tussle for the remaining positions and very closely matched.

Grand (Event 2)
1st Place -Bangers Racing - BMW 3.0CSL (90 pts)
2nd Place - Deadheads - Rover SD1 (51pts)
3rd Place - Brumos RSR - BMW 2.8 (47pts)
With the sudden re-appearance of the Deadheads Rover SD1 apparently coming back to life, this event has become red hot again. Additionally 3rd place no longer looks secure for the BMW 2.8 of Brumos RSR, as the Camaro of Makem Movers is just one point behind.

Super (Event 3)
1st Place - Savage GT - Calibra (67pts)
2nd Place - WVSAM - Nissan Skyline (63pts)
3rd Place - Mountain View - BMW M3 ( 46pts)
Perhaps the change of track surface favoured the Calibra of Savage GT on this Round, and Sam's Skyline just missed out.
Mountain Views BMW is still well ahead in 3rd place of some of the other C Class cars

Modern (Event 4)
1st Place - Deadheads - Audi A5 (86pts)
2nd Place - Bangers Racing- Alfa 156 (55pts)
3rd Place - RoadRunners - Honda Civic (52pts)
Another consistent result by Deadheads Audi A5 keeps it at the top. Sadly the RoadRunners run of good fortune with the Honda seemingly come to an erupt end, perhaps somehow become less balanced after the crash on the previous Round. The Alfa 156 of Bangers Racing taking full advantage and gaining 2nd place. The Astra of Mountain View run well and with 49pts could soon displace the stricken Honda.

Class A constructed Cars
1st Place - Mountain View - Astra ( 85pts)
2nd Place - ManxEd - Calibra (72pts)
3rd Place - Team Tatters - Honda Civic ( 58pts)
Further extended its lead, the Astra od Mountain view still looking very strong.

Class B Constructed Cars
1st Place - Bangers Racing - BMW 3.0 CSL (67pts)
2nd Place - Deadheads - Audi A5 (61pts)
3rd Place - Mountain View - BMW M3 (55pts)
Deadheads Rover SD1 resurgence and taking over 2nd place from Mountain View making this a close contest between the first two.

Class C Constructed Cars
1st Place - Savage GT - Calibra (68pts)
2nd Place - WVSAM - Nissan Skyline (66pts)
3rd Place - Hotlap - Calibra (47pts)
A battle between the Calibra of Savage GT and the Skyline of WVSAM for the win in this class.

Best Team
1st Place - Savage GT (279pts)
2nd Place - Mountain View ( 235pts)
3rd Place - Bangers Racing (234pts)
4th Place Deadheads (233pts)
All very close between these top teams, would not like to guess who will win this award.
