Touring Cars Slotting - Official Results & Reports

13.8V to 10V is over a 25% drop in performance which could explain the 'slow', 'underpowered', 'lacking punch' comments we're seeing for some cars.
When I test for handling at Mid America Raceway, which is a routed wood track, I test at 13.8 volts.  I pick my motors based on RPM at 10volts. Stateside most proxy are set at 10-11.5 volts.  Quicker reaction time for drivers versus cars being too fast for drivers and fewer offs equal more fun.

Tyres unglued, argh, thats a kicker !
Where are the cars going next, and are they allowed to be re-glued or replaced if damaged from ungluing ?

Phil has glued the tyres back on, so you should be ok for the next round at the Viking Club.

Thank you kind sir :)

After a thrilling Round on the Wye Valley Track,  next week we are returning to the fast running Viking Club track where Ade will be our host for Round 4

Wye Valley Club - Pitlane Review Round 3
So after a smooth journey from Burnley to Hereford, the cars were run on the Ninco club track, however as Phil alluded to the track is a little bumpy, so I think this meant that some cars were a little to rigid to really benefit from this track, and there are lots of changes of direction and sharp bends to boot.

The day started with a couple of repairs to my Galaxie which on inspection had lost one side of its motor mount suspension, so Kevin look out for a loose spring and spring holder on your track please. Also a rather static Galaxie on the track was a result of a wire loose in the guide. So many thanks to Phil for sorting that before proceeding got underway.

The positions after Rounds 1-3

Tourist (event 1)
1st Place - Savage GT - Mustang (55pts)
2nd Place - Brumos RSR - Porsche 911 (42pts)
3rd Place - RoadRunners - Galaxie (41pts)
Kind of get the feeling that that Mustang of Savage GT is already looking like too far down the road for the rest of us. Whilst the Galaxie is breathing right down the hosepipe of the Porsche. Another Round and I will have him ....or maybe not.
The remaining field are all sharing 19pts each.

Grand (event 2)
1st Place - Bangers Racing - BMW 3.0CSL (55pts)
2nd Place - Brumos RSR - BMW 2.8 (33pts)
3rd Place - Deadheads Rover SD1 (26pts)
joint 3rd - Harrisons Racers - Camaro (26pts)
Wow ! who saw that BMW of Brumos coming through, definitely on a mission since the gears were fixed by Kevan. Meanwhile the Rover SD1 is still in the doldrums, and I hate say yet another plastic track coming up in Round 4  Tease and another Camaro of Makem Movers is on your tail with 24pts.

Super (event 3)
1st Place - Hotlap - Calibra (33pts)
2nd Place - Savage GT - Calibra (32pts)
3rdc Place - WVSAM- Calibra (28pts)
And another surprise, with the home advantage or was it just a matter of time the Calibra of Hotlap is on top. However very unfortunate that Savage GT had a flat tyre on his Calibra as this could have been an epic battle on this track. Still with tyres repaired next week hopefully we will see these two doing battle again. And Sam the young pretender has suddenly found some form and nipped into 3rd place. It was not Mountain views day after a great run last week, and the BMW M3 drops into 4th with Team Tatters Calibra on 27pts.

Modern (event 4)
1st Place - Deadheads - Audi A5 (46pts)
joint 1st Place - RoadRunners - Honda Civic (46pts)
3rd Place - Bangers Racing - Alfa 156 (29pts)
More excitement in this event, the Roadrunners Honda Civic was never like this at home   Bigsmile  so i will be holding my breath for the next Round.
And Bangers Racing Alfa 156 another of the late performers, a case of "deja vu" like with the Rally. Mountain Views Astra drops to 4th with 28pts.

Class A Constructed Cars
1st Place - Mountain View -Astra (50pts)
2nd Place - Manx Ed - Calibra ( 46pts)
3rd Place - Harrisons Racers - BMW 320i (31pts)
Mountain View's Astra holding onto the top spot, but with a new rival in ManxEd's Calibra close behind.

Class B Constructed Cars
1st Place - Bangers Racing - BMW 3.0CSL(41pts)
2ndPlace - Red Dragons -Laguna (34pts)
3rd Place - Deadheads - Audi A5 (30pts)
All change in this class with Bangers Racing BMW taking the lead, and Red Dragons Laguna making a surprise move into 2nd position.

Class C Constructed Cars
1st Place - Hotlap - Calibra ( 39pts)
2nd Place - Savage GT - Calibra (33pts)
3rd Place - VWSAM - Skyline (31pts)
Similarly all change in this class with Hotlap taking leading position, but the Calibra's not having it all their way with Sam'a Skyline taking 3rd position.

Best Team

Savage GT holding onto that top position, but Bangers Racing improving and now very close behind.

Fastest Lap (just for interest)

I was not quite sure how these "Event" points were being calculated. I had assumed it was the total of the Event points gained for rounds 1, 2 and 3, added together.
I got some different totals. but think it may have been a typo!

You are too fast off the mark Chris, yes on my review your BMW had 55 pts not 50pts. The tables I posted in the Review are correct as they are generated by the database

I corrected the review notes  Sun

Unfortunately South Manchester Club is no longer able to run their Round in the Proxy, so I have asked Mountain View to step in to replace them and I will also run a Round myself at the end, unless someone else wants to offer their track services ?

Good News !
it looks like we may have a new club track to run a Round on the North Staffs Slot Car Club, curtesy of classicchrisk, which is not so far from me.
All we need is a few more marshals to help out...where's my address book  Bigsmile

Ha, ha! Never realised the main straight was a 90 degree bend! Very strange lens on your camera!

It was copied off the website, I guess the photo was manipulated in order to get the whole track in frame ?
