Rally Cars Slotting Proxy 2023

Wow

Thank you for driving both my cars to a podium finish .. as so far not a sniff of pace from them.

And seriously a good proxy round .. just to give Graham something to write about.. glad there was a mix around.

Cheers  :checkeredflag: :wavegreen:

You are both very welcome,  really enjoyed all the entries,  and your particular models suited the two stages, and probably me as well.

Shame I couldn't get my own entries around as proficiently........

Thanks for running the cars, and very pleased with a round win for the Pantera! The Healey is still trying to hang on to the tail of the big jags..

Wavegreen Good Morning,
I am going to get the overall results and Pitlane Review done today, as I have a busy week ahead of me.
After a satisfying result at the Rockingham 1st National 1/24th scale BRM Race, I am back there next weekend for the National Vintage Slot Car "Early Birds & Double Trouble" events. So still lots of preparation required with that lot  Bigsmile

However back here as proxy administrator I have decided that I am still being a little harsh on the "Track non runners", so I have reduced the time penalty awarded on Round 3 last week from 100 secs  per Stage to 80 secs per stage, and used a similar criteria for the 1st stage of Round 4 based on the average times across all 4 Events.
Additionally going back to the 1st Round I had awarded a "double slowest car time" penalty to James@wyevalley which failed to make it around my Rally track, I think on reflection was exceptionally severe. So I have amended those times based on current experience and adjusted his times accordingly.
So hopefully this gives everybody an improved chance of recovering from the missed runs.

So the Event Overall Results

Pitlane Review
Another Round of drama, perfectly run for us by Pip.
The 1st stage on another of those "now notorious" SCX Tracks, this time perhaps a little easier without the classic Scalextric track to cause more chaos  Rofl
Still puzzled as to why the Alfa Gran Turismo refused to work on the "Shed End" Stage, but I guess it does not suit the truly vintage cars.
It did give me cause to reflect on the time penalty aspect, as this Round was shorter then the previous one , so I had to ensure the non runners would not be left behind, and as such when I looked back there was good reason to amend the Default time aspect and right a previous injustice on my Round. It is difficult thing to judge as everyone's Round is different and I can see that the default time penalty aspect may need to be different for each one.

So in general most of the cars made it around the tracks to the relief of most of the entrants, loved the SCX start line, I have one but yet to find a suitable layout for it to be included. The "Shed End"  truly one I would personally like to have a run at, very technical like my own Carrera track.

I think Pip has covered the Round narrative very well, so I will concentrate on the consequences of the Rounds actions.

Event 1 (Monte Carlo)
ManxAndy Jaguar XK120 finally made it to the top spot this Round with a great run.  A very well built car.
ManxKev Jaguar XK120 doing a supporting run and not very far behind, and RoadRunners perhaps a few cylinders short this time.
Green Star Racing's Austin Healey too close for comfort in 4th, I am thinking this could be very strong contender depending on the remaining tracks.
The Cortina of Lifeboats Racing and the Landcrab of Novissime Iterum seem to be locked in battle, the Alfa Gran Turismo has defenitely lost its mojo.

Event 2 ( Rally B Cars)
Still Bangers Racing Metro 6R4 on top at the moment, but 2nd Place Green Star Racing's De Tomaso (old favourite of Proxy battles) has suddenly found form, so one to watch closely. 3rd place Harrisons Racers Lancia 037 perhaps struggling a little on all those corners giving away a little ground.

Event 3 (Rally Legends)
Well RoadRunners Fiat 131 Abarth, still there in the 1st place, but I fear soon the swarm of Porsche 914/6's will be all around me  Bigsmile
Savage GT Porsche 914/6 in 2nd place is the nearest so far, the next tracks are favourites of the Porsches so the pressure is on now.
BARacers Triumph TR7  still keeping up the pace in 3rd place.

Event 4 (WRC Modern)
Woodcote's Subaru lost abit of ground to 2nd place Ruscillo Racing's Citroen C4 which ran really well on the last Round.
And Team Scott's Renault Clio finally made it past the Subaru of Team Alaric for 3rd place, looking very strong and is my "Dark Horse" tip for a top 3 finishing.

Car Classes
Class A (Standard Slot Cars)
As above it seems Scott Sports Renault Clio have nicked 1st place in the class ranking from Team Alarics Subaru. With Harrison's Racers Lancia 037 keeping 3rd.

Class B ( Modified and Scratchbuild)
Well again my Fiat 131 Abarth has regained the lead in this class with Woodcote's Subaru dropping to 2nd and Ruscillo Racings Citroen C4 in 3rd.

Class C (procars)
Savage GT's Porsche 914/6 currently in top position, with Green Star Racing now beginning to stretch its legs, could be an interesting battle to ensure here.
And in 3rd place the Jaguar XK120 of ManxAndy looking very strong, but can it keep off the other Porsche's ......umm

Team Placings
well some more changes here, with RoadRunners sharing the top spot with Bangers Racing, but Savage GT and Green Star Racing teams very close behind.
New to the Top 10 Teams are SSRC sharing 10th Place with ManxAndy, ManxKev and Mountain view for the first time.

So finally we will try DPD again to see if they can redeem themselves and collect the cars tomorrow from Pip, and carry them safely up to Abergavenny for the 1st Club Round at Wye Valley Slot Club. The action will take place on Monday 3rd and Tuesday 4th April for the "halfway" Round of the Rally Proxy competition  Sun

Stage 1 ( Beacon Quarry)

The corners through the gravel area can be quite tight, the smaller more nimble cars can benefit from that Stage.

Stage 2 (Camel)

This stage is well, a case of can you get "over the hump" if you can then there is a complex track around the wildlife park.....if you can remember which is the correct way round  Rofl

Thank you Graham  Thumbup

Very enjoyable set of cars, really good quality,  and great fun.

Regards the Alfa Romeo Gran Turismo.  It failed to complete the SCX stage,  it didn't actually make it past two of its own lengths....
On the Shed End Circuit it was OK, except for the back to back crossover corners.  On the blue lane you cross twice, once outside, and then once inside.  It failed on all 6 practice laps, and the three timed laps to clear the crossover.   The guide is very far forward,  its heavy, and it didn't matter what speed level I tried it just caught on the guide and stopped on the inside cross.  I obviously didn't want to damage it, so just pushed it through.  It did make it round, 43.19s, but didn't get anywhere on the SCX stage 4a.    Shame, as it looks great.
