Slotting Car Proxy Club
#21

(11th-Aug-22, 01:46 PM)Mike174 Wrote:  How i see it is:
1 event - Rally
Instead of classes A,B,C,D there are now 4 eras of rally.
Inside each era is now 3 classes (A,B,C)
So you pick two eras of rally to enter in, within that, the car you enter can be either class A,B or C
You race as an era but you can be the only Class A car entered in that era and then you win that class.
For example:
1car entered for modern rally, then that car can either be: standard rtr scalextric, Ninco etc (Class A)
Modified class A or scratch built (Class B)
Or a ‘Pro Built’ car NSR, Slot-it etc (Class C)
The whole era runs together and my class A car might come last in the era, but if it’s the only class A car entered in that specific era, I win ‘Modern Rally Class A’

That’s how I see it anyway

Although the terminology has changed from era's called Classes to being called Events (which is probably more correct anyway)
For each Event you have the 3 types of slot car construction (defined by Class type) rather like real sports car racing.

This saves me having to specify different rules for cars in different Era's (Events) in order to accommodate the diverse range of Entrants we get. Often Entrants would prefer to enter a particular "Event" but don't have the right type of slot car. And it is a lottery for me to decide which type of slot car should be associated with which Event.
There may well be Events with only one or two Car Classes represented, I have no way of judging this as yet, so it will be interesting to see how this works out.

And as Mike imply's it does offer the opportunity for those perhaps without eg. "Pro cars" to compete on a more level playing field than before. But of course you can only win or loose now. No medals or prizes for a near miss.

brumos have you hacked into my web cam hehehehe
still ticked off with that btw :)

ok i understand the format now , will wait until i see who enters which class in each event , seems a bit  pointless entering a car that could in theory end up competing against it self only

If you look at the car list in Event 1 (pre66 Monte Carlo) to my knowledge there are no Class C cars which qualify, so you only have a choice of A or B   Bigsmile

As some have become confused by the terminology,

I have edited the General Format posting above in the hope that it is more easily understood.

This has been revised later on the thread

Hi Graham, looking forward to this but just some observationas

Is it worth adding policar to class A for this one, they have an impreza that is probably no better than the other rtr cars and rally ready?

I thought event 2 was going to be Group B rally cars but the list of eligible cars is much smaller?

Event 4 is it any 'rally' car as per eligibility or any WRC car as per title of event - very different things as anyone who enters an nsr asv as a rally car will know  Thumbup

Thanks

Ash

Some very good points there,

Yes I will add Policar to Class A Cars.
And added Kev's question regarding 4 wheels touching the track into the rules.
The Group B cars are the only ones I could find listed, from the source I was using eWRC-results.com - rally database
So if you have others I can check out, let me know ?
Yes my intention is for  Event 4 to be for WRC cars only not any Rally car, so I will change that.

Hi
Just coming into this debate questions etc.
to be clear

If I take a SCX car rally and swop the chassis to a 3D and put metal wheels all round what class does this come under??

If I have a avant and change the motor and wheels what class is this ?

If I have a scaly and change the running gear same chassis semi modified. What class ?

I like defined examples just to be sure as I am a little dot confused at the moment..

Looking for clarity here please ?

SCX car with 3D chassis becomes a Class B car

Avant with motor change remains a Class C car

Scalex Car with change in running gear becomes a Class B car
