Summer Grand Prix Proxy

Wavegreen Good Morning,

many thanks Pip for the results for your first Round on your two tracks, looking forward to seeing how the cars run on your "Routed Raceway"

So after Rounds 1-6 we have the following combined results

So hopefully you can take a breather before running Round 7 of the Grand Prix during next week.

In the meantime I will post the Pitlane Review tomorrow or Tuesday

Hi Paul,

Yes, definitely looking forward to the next round.

Routed Raceway is all set up, all the cars have done a 10 lap test, and it looks like they are even more tightly matched on this track.....

Will be running a class each day, with results up on Friday as Saturday is very busy.

Wavegreen Good Morning,

an early posting on the Pitlane Review, as the weather outside looks too good to be posting on the forum.
With no mechanical failures recorded, I will crack on with the report.

Early Flyers
1st Place - RoadRunners - Mercedes W196
2nd Place - Mountain View - Mercedes W196
3rd Place - Team Cube - Scarab
Another very close run between the Mercs of Mountain View and RoadRunners, only on point between them again. 3 class wins each, with 4 rounds to go  Talking The Team rivalry once again locked in battle.

Classic
1st place - Roadrunners - Cooper Climax
2nd Place - Bangers Racing - Porsche 804
3rd Place - RNLI Racing - Lotus 24
Courtney's Cooper Climax clearly making progress and will be close to 3rd place pretty soon.

Legends
1st Place - Team Tatters - Williams FW07
2nd Place - Ruscillo Racing - Ferrari 126C
3rd Place - Bangers Racing - Williams FW11
The performance of the Shadow of Mountain View seems to have dropped off recently, so a gap is opening up between 3rd and 4th. But looking like a battle is just starting for 5th & 6th place between the Tyrell of Scott Sport and the Matra of Rokers Roar.

Modern
1st Place - Courtney Sport - Mclaren MP13/4
2nd Place - Team Cube - Williams FW40
3rd Place - Team Tatters - Dallara
for the first time the Dallara of Team Tatters outperformed Team Cube's Williams, so could this be a late run for 2nd position ?

Team Points
This time RoadRunners conceded one point to their nearest rivals Team Tatters, but still 9 points clear at the top. So RoadRunners are reasonably confident at this point in time although both cars are coming under greater pressure in their two classes.
Joint 3rd Place is Mountain View and Team Cube, which both look like being outrun by Courtney Sport on the next rounds.

So this week the next Round will be on the "Routed Raceway", a less technical track so it it will be interesting to see how things go there  Sun

SUMMER GRAND PRIX PROXY EVENT .

ROUND 7 - ROUTED RACEWAY.

SO HERE WE GO WITH ROUND 7, ON MY 4 LANE "ROUTED RACEWAY ".

RACING ON THE BLUE LANE,  WHICH IS 36 FEET 3 INCHES.   THIS TRACK IS TOTALLY FLAT,  AS IT FOLDS AGAINST THE BACK WALL OF MY HOBBY ROOM.   PAINTED WITH ULTRA SMOOTH MASONRY PAINT,  FAST AND FLOWING,  AND VERY WELL SUITED TO THESE TYPE OF CARS.  SAME DS TIMING SYSTEM AND CONTROLLERS AS MY OTHER LAYOUT, AND RUNNING AT 12 VOLTS.

I RAN THE FOUR CLASSES OVER THIS WEEK, ONE CLASS PER DAY, AND THEY WERE GREAT FUN, AND VERY QUICK ON THIS LAYOUT  Thumbup

SUMMER GRAND PRIX PROXY EVENT ROUND 7 RESULTS....

EACH CAR WAS GIVEN A 10 LAP TEST SESSION LAST WEEKEND,  AND NO PROBLEMS WERE FOUND.

FOR THE TIMED EVENT EACH CAR WAS GIVEN A 25 LAP WARM UP,  THEN THE REAR TYRES WERE CLEANED USING MASKING TAPE.

EACH ENTRY WAS THEN GIVEN A FURTHER 6 LAPS, BASICALLY FOR ME TO ADJUST TO HOW THE CAR HANDLED WITH CLEAN TYRES, AS THIS MAKES A VERY BIG DIFFERENCE ON THIS TRACK.      EACH CAR THEN COMPLETED A 25 LAP TIMED HEAT.

CLASS A -  EARLY FLYERS.  PRE 1961 FRONT ENGINED.

THE MERCEDES W196 OF MOUNTAIN VIEW TAKING THE WIN BY 6 SECONDS FROM THE SIMILAR MODEL OF TEAM ROADRUNNERS.  THESE TWO WERE VERY WELL SET UP FOR A WOODEN TRACK.  3RD WENT TO THE BEAUTIFUL FERRARI SUPER SQUALO FROM TEAM RNLI, COMPLETE WITH 1 DESLOT, SORRY!   THIS ENTRY WAS ALSO GREAT ON THE WOODEN TRACK.
4TH WAS TEAM CUBES SCARAB,  WHICH AGAIN RAN A TYRE ALMOST OFF THE RIM BY HALFWAY,  AND 5TH TO THE LOVELY BUGATTI OF ROAKERS ROAR, WHICH WAS A RIGHT HANDFUL ON THIS TRACK!

SUPER SET OF CARS,  AND JUST THE TYPE WHICH I COLLECT. THANKS GUYS Bigsmile

SUMMER GRAND PRIX PROXY EVENT ROUND 7 RESULTS.

CLASS B -  CLASSIC.   1961 TO 1968.

COURTNEY SPORTS COOPER CLIMAX TAKING THE WIN AGAIN!   AS MY COMMENTS ON THE RESULTS SHEET SAYS, "SUPER QUICK,  VERY EASY TO DRIVE FAST "     SUMS IT UP PERFECTLY.     A GREAT 2ND THIS TIME TO BANGERS RACINGS WONDERFUL LITTLE EARLY SCALEXTRIC PORSCHE 804, WHICH IS MUCH MODIFIED,  BUT JUST IS SO COOL.  IT JUST WENT QUICKER AND QUICKER,  CLOCKING ITS FASTEST LAP ON LAP 21.     3RD PLACE TO TEAM ROADRUNNERS COOPER CLIMAX, WHICH DIDNT LIKE TURN 1 GOING INTO THE ESSES, AND HAD A DESLOT.   4TH WAS THE SIDEWAYS LOTUS 24 OF TEAM RNLI, WHICH HAD VIRTUALLY NO REAR END GRIP AFTER 10 LAPS, BUT WAS GREAT FUN TO DRIFT AROUND!

SUMMER GRAND PRIX PROXY EVENT ROUND 7 RESULTS.

CLASS C  -  LEGENDS 1969 TO 1989.

TOP SPOT TO THE GREAT LITTLE FERRARI 126C OF RUSCILLO RACING,  COMPLETE WITH FASTEST LAP FOR THIS CLASS. SPOT ON ON THE WOODEN TRACK, AND SO SMOOTH AND QUIET.   JUST 1.6 SECONDS BACK WAS BANGERS RACINGS WILLIAMS,  SO CLOSE TO THE WIN!        3RD SPOT TO TEAM TATTERS WILLIAMS FW07, SUPERB HANDLING,  BUT NOT QUITE AS FAST ON THE STRAIGHT.  JUST 3.4 SECONDS 1ST TO 3RD,  VERY COMPETITIVE.  4TH THIS TIME TO THE SHADOW DN1 OF MOUNTAIN VIEW, FRACTIONALLY AHEAD OF SCOTT SPORTS COOL TYRELL 008. THE TYRELL FACTORY WAS JUST A FEW MILES AWAY FROM HERE.  I SAY "FACTORY ", MORE OF A BIG SHED/ WORKSHOP IN REALITY  Rofl   6TH PLACE,  AND NOT FAR BEHIND WAS ROKERS ROARS LOVELY MATRA.

VERY CLOSE CLASS THIS ONE.

SUMMER GRAND PRIX PROXY EVENT ROUND 7 RESULTS.

CLASS D -  MODERN.   1990 TO TODAY.

ANOTHER WIN FOR COURTNEY SPORTS McLAREN MP4/13.   THIS CAR IS SORTED.  VERY QUICK, GOOD HANDLING, BUT A BIT OF A HANDFUL ON THIS LAYOUT, EITHER DUE TO ITS SPEED, OR MY TALENT HAD REACHED ITS LIMIT !!
A GREAT 2ND FOR THE VERY LONG WILLIAMS FW40 FROM TEAM CUBE.  A DARN FUNNY LOOKING DESIGN,  BUT A DIFFERENT CAR ON THE WOODEN TRACK.  EVERY LAP WAS 4.1 OR 4.2 SECONDS,  VERY EASY TO GO FAST WITH.  COMPLETING THE PODIUM,  AND ONLY 2.2 SECONDS BACK WAS TEAM TATTERS EXCELLENT DALLARA.   THIS IS SO NICE TO DRIVE, AND SO PRECISE.   TOP 3 COVERED BY JUST 3.6 SECONDS.   GREAT RACING
4TH WAS SCOTT SPORTS RENAULT R28, WITH RUSCILLO RACING BRINGING UP THE REAR WITH THE JORDAN 197.

ANOTHER REALLY COMPETITIVE CLASS, WITH SOME REAL FLYERS!

BIG WELL DONE TO ALL THE ENTRANTS  FOR SOME GREAT CARS.   GOOD VARIETY,  AND LOTS OF 3D PRINTED CHASSIS AND CLEVER SOLUTIONS TO GOING QUICKLY.    THANK YOU TO ORGANISER GRAHAM  FOR INVITING ME TO RUN A COUPLE OF ROUNDS,  I THOROUGHLY ENJOYED IT.

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE FOR LAST FEW ROUNDS
