A question; Why did you use piano wire? Copper wire would have been a lot easier to bend and solder.

I don't have any copper wire and haven't been able to find a local supplier unfortunately.
I really resent having to pay silly money for postage costs, it frustrates the hell out of me. I'm not being tight I just resent being ripped off a few extra quid because they can.
I found a place that sold liquid flux for £3, they wanted £9 to post it
I will keep hunting for some although I did enjoy heating this stuff up to red hot and bending it by hand was very satisfying.

I got the front spring setup almost sorted yesterday.

I used many different little bits I got from the local shop that shut last month.
I used these little things which I think are cast anchor's for model boats, I ground the top one and cut in half and ground down the bottom brackets.
   
   
   
The little nuts and bolts are awesome, I got them from https://prime-miniatures.co.uk/home
I can't remember where I found their details but they are fantastic to deal with, it may even have been on here.
I just need to make a little spacer for the bottom right and a little bit of shaping so the front mudguard fits and then I think I'm ready for paint.
   
My pics keep going side on but I think they correct when clicked on.

I've done a test run before I start painting and it kept deslotting.
I've obviously added more weight to the back and the power of these little motors jerk forward quite quickly.
So I cut some lead and glued it under the screen in the front of the fairing.
   
The guide now sits nice and low and she goes around the track brilliantly.
   
On the original scalextric bikes they have a little magnet under the back fairing, but I've done test rides with and without and I find it more fun with out as the bikes drift better and it's a little more realistic.
One thing I can't get my head around is the different response from the scalectric controller to the Truspeed one, you only have to lightly touch the truspeed one and the bikes are off, it's honestly like driving a Morris 1100 compared to a Ferrari.
How can there be so much difference in response? or is that just opening a technical can of worms?
Off to the paint booth with a big smile on my diel, I honestly didn't know if this would work properly but am over the moon it has.

Have you tried adjusting the sensitivity dial on the Truspeed controller?

Hi Mike, yes I've got the Truspeed dialled in to using it with the bikes, what amazed me is the difference in reaction and share speed with the two different controllers.
The scalextric one reacts like a locomotive pulling away.
Hats off to Truspeed, they have a wonderful product when you compare like this.
