My son has a Scalextric Ferrari 330 P4 C3946 which is proving pretty unreliable. The whole pick-up / guide assembly keeps popping out. I can't quite tell if the collar it sits in is broken or...? See attached photo.
If so, it is a bummer because it has been really fun and hasn't seen all that much action. Honestly, all of the cars have crapped out to some extent in pretty short order. Normal?
Anyway, if the collar is broken any idea on how to fix it? If not, any ideas on keeping the guide from popping out (I adjusted the screw, etc)

Slot cars do require new braids and tires once in a while. Cars can break when they are driven a bit too hard. I'm 60 now. I was about 10-years old and my dad asked me how my slot cars were breaking? I didn't tell him I was making some cool looking accidents happen by driving too fast.
Once the guide support is broken. The chassis usually needs to be replaced. That small part of the car works the hardest. Some 3D printing companies like Shapeways now print replacement chassis for those popular cars.
Scalex also makes "high impact" - "drift" slot cars that allow the guide to rotate 360-degrees without breaking. Something to consider until the breakage of the nicer cars slows down.
Try and find just the cars for sale at a local slot car/toy flea market or something.
Looks to me like the 'collar' is broken at the front. It should be a complete ring that holds the guide shaft firmly.
On a car that is driven really hard, this is an area on a Scalextric car that can break. As Ken said, the only way to repair it so it holds up to hard driving is to replace the complete underpan. If you contact Scalextric directly - or a local distributor - they may have a spare part they can send you.
There are other fixes - including 3D printed guide holders that glue in place. These are usually designed to take a Slot.it guide. I've had a look in our Traders section and it's worth contacting John May via this thread: https://slotracer.online/community/showt...hp?tid=784
