Not at all surprised in my small group half of us don't add weight neither and work towards getting the car as light as we can then we keep tuning it until it runs great and people say tyres are a black art

There are no UK circuits with the characteristics described. At least, I'm not aware of any.
(Maybe the " four lane black top" club is our closest approximation but I've never been there.)
Between track surface, rail dimensions and climate, we are running blind on this proxy but that is to be expected.
The intention was to use the tyres that all others seem to use, urethane "yellow dogs" . I did get 2 pairs thanks to "ArroldN" but too late to fit and test for this year so "mk3 ortmanns" are the way to go. Let's see what happens this year and adapt to suit for 2022.
Proxies are a big step change from in-person racing where cars can be tweaked between every race.
On proxies, it's tweak once a year"
I might not have the necessary lifespan left to master Aussie proxies
Alan.

Well, Nonfractal and my cars have arrived Down Under. Canberra is in lockdown at the moment, so no fixed timings yet for the Proxy.
However: -
Some initial checks...
And some loosener laps to see how they run
(and it does look like mine needs loosening up!)

@johnno you should put a car in to the next Touring Car Proxi? I'm thinking of building one for the next onw myself. Got delivery of 4 resin Aussie Touring car bodies That I'm thinking of building up one for.

I'm no where near experienced enough to do scratch builds for proxies at this stage, I don't even know where I'd start with the build beyond grabbing the Proxy Rules. I'm still tuning my everyday racers, a little bit at a time from trial and error (on my behalf, not the car or track)

This is where it all got a little 'tight' on my car, and why I couldn't get the free running gear I was after...
The gear was almost directly fitted against the bushing, but not as close as I wanted in order to avoid it rubbing on the chassis
The pinion was almost rubbing on the tyre
The tyre was only just within the wheel arch
Maybe SW or IL next year!

Canberra current in covid lock down, so start of the proxy delayed.
Peter Gunn from The Other Place set fastest time in the tester laps after unpacking. Nonfractal had a good time as well, but I didn't!
Host has relaxed my gear mesh and I am hoping for some improvement.
