Brighton to John o'Groats Road Race -Proxy Event
#51

(16th-Mar-21, 02:55 PM)Graham Wrote:  The RS200 was made by Ford Motor Sport division for 1984-1986. But was always intended for sale as a competition car, not as a road car. About 200 were assembled to satisfy FIA homologation rules and another 20 part kits.

The spirit of this competition is for cars based on commercially produced cars intended for general road use.

Wasn't the Ford GT40 always intended for sale as a competition car then?

Yes it was, but in the class C our memorial Historic  " Tour de France" road race some non road based competition cars were actually listed. The GT40 first in 1965.

For our bespoke road race class A&B the Ford GT is allowed as it was made as a commercial road going car  between 2004-2006 and then more recently since 2017, and I think possibly still is.

Wavegreen GOOD MORNING

Just received the road route map that the cars will be following from Brighton to John O'Groats. The cars will be stopping off at the garages listed as check points to record their progress up country and to get a quick maintenance check up before proceeding onto the next stage.

Hello Graham,
Unfortunately a typo has creeped in to the itinerary.

The Edinburgh garage is "Merchiston Motors" - home of Ecurie Ecosse in the early years.

Wavegreen GOOD MORNING

I am pleased to announce that the most famous Road Racer "Sir Stirling Moss" will be driving for the Roadrunners Team, with a lovingly restored Mercedes 300SL which he ran in the "Tour de France" . The very brightly decorated Mclarens MP4-12C as arrived for testing. But we are still struggling with the Koeningsegg CCR Roadcar, the bodywork has been painted but we waiting for the glazing to be fitted.

The mishap with the Edinburgh Garage name is being rectified, I have informed the sign maker who will correct the mistake.
