GT SPORTS CAR Slotting Builds

Yes it is, I bought this one with the Chevrolet Dekon Monza GR5 model just before Christmas off eBay.So far I have not seen a chassis for the Chevrolet, which would be another interesting one to do.

I think I might try the Scaleauto Sprint 22.5k rpm motor tomorrow in the De Tomaso, as it needs abit more grunt to move the heavy body.

I must admit I never liked those motors, far too hasty, good for sprinting...(funnily enough)

Spent all day working with the gearing on the De Tomaso, and it was still slower than my stock Sideways Gr5 club car.
Then I had an idea, I am not very clever with selecting the right gearing for my cars, very much a trial an error approach, but then I had a thought that the heavy Carrera body/3d chassis car is a little bit like a Ninco, and I have a couple of NSR Anglewinder kits 32/12 gearing which I bought for Ninco models  Idea
So I popped the gearing kit into the De Tomaso, and it runs very well now  Cool

Whilst waiting for gears and tyres to be posted from Pendles using the vouchers from the Touring Car Proxy, I can't hang around so repurposed gears off another car, then set about making wheel inserts.

I've put a how-to in the tips/tuning section to show how I made the inserts...don't throw old plastic wheels away  Thumbup

That's one car done, just need to do a set for the Asto...nearly gave it away, I have another set of the same plastic wheels so will use those.

Final preps today, trim rear tyre widths, check ground clearance (I found a large diameter hardened washer that I made at work over 30 years ago for an RC buggy, it's 1.48mm thick with a layer of tape on one side), tape over the holes on one, blutac in the other, lubed the bearings and changed one wire in one car that was a little short.
Team 'Manx Modsports' are ready!

I decided to stick with my Slot it GT40 after testing it at my local club, the NSR was a little faster but more unstable a needed more controller optimisation. The slot it ( NSR motor) just run very smoothly.
The De Tomaso, was very difficult based on the initial set up i had on my home track, so i changed the set up to improve the running on the wood track.

Three teams - Manx Modsports, Le Manx and Batmanx were doing testing again last night at the club...
  • Manx Modsports is 100% ready
  • Le Manx still has a couple of little tweaks but a late change of car (same car/event/class) is probable
  • Batmanx still has basic needs to sort but the choice of cars is nailed down...
