Match Racing - Round 1

First to go were Sue and Alan with their Nostalgia Funny Cars...

Alan took the win by 0.051 seconds - their ETs 0.810 and 0.865. Sue has the chance of revenge tomorrow afternoon. Don't forget, if you have cars you want to match-race that aren't in the main classes, let me know. I am sure we can put something together - although cars on the slower end of the spectrum are probably best with that short shutdown.

Next up were the super-quick Micro 2019 cars with their Nostalgia bodies. Alan's beautifully repainted 'Vette faced Iain's '32 Ford hot rod...

This was incredibly quick and amazingly close - the winning margin just 0.005 seconds. It was the Ford that poked its nose over the finish line first. Alan got a nice hole shot, but it wasn't enough. The ETs were 0.449 and 0.459. Alan clocked 10.985 mph through the speed trap, Iain 10.146 mph.

The last Round 1 race of the evening was Rebecca's Mercury hot rod against Bill's Corvette...

The 'Vette had this under control all the way down the strip - winning by 0.028 seconds, the ETs 0.448 and 0.481. Bill matched Alan's speed - 10.985 through the line.

Round 2 will follow tomorrow afternoon, with any Round 3 deciders the first action of the evening.

A stunning performance by Clive's Audi Wrench

The pressure is on for tomorrow evening... one slip up and there's a very competitive bunch ready to pick up the pieces. Jerome's Veyron was fastest through the speed trap at 8.239 mph.

Congrats to Alan on Best in Show!

There were some great new cars for Rebecca to judge this time. Iain's Fruit of the Loom Funny Car and Bill's DB5 also made the final three.

Match Racing - Round 2

First to go again were the Nostalgia Funny Cars...

Alan got away from the line ahead and just about held that advantage to the finish line - although Sue was closing the 'Wild Man' down. Alan's winning margin was 0.023 seconds, the ETs 0.846 and 0.846.

Alan was straight back in action, jumping out of the Funny Car and into the purple Corvette for the first of the Micro 2019 runs...

And it was the 'Vette that levelled the match - a 0.017 second win, the ETs 0.444 to 0.456 and Alan getting the better start again. His speed through the trap was quick - 11.769 mph compared to the Ford's 10.146. These two will meet this evening for a decider.

No decider in the other 2019 Micro match...

Bill's Corvette was away well and crossed the line 0.024 ahead of Rebecca's Merc. A 0.443 for Bill and a 0.468 for Rebecca - although she was faster through the speed trap with 10.985 mph.

The action will continue around 4.45 with coverage of the Super Stock 6.0 eliminators...
