Manx Brian’s car is virtually identical to the Rover - I built both cars and yet despite mine being the slightly quicker car his overall lap time was 8 seconds quicker than the Rover. Perhaps the Rover de-slowed a number of times?
Thank you again for the input.

hi Andy
your mention of 8 seconds really peaked my curiosity and got me thinking , especially as 8 secs is an average-ish lap time here , and i wondered , since i was careful to ensure there were zero de-slots for any of the cars , perhaps my timing had missed a lap somehow for your car ?
so i re-ran the Rover several times again today , 3x in total , 10 lap stints each time , just to ease my own peace of mind tbh
i got almost identical lap times , and very similar total times for each 10 lap run
so i cannot see the timing being faulty
regarding the guide Graham mentioned
depth = 6.4mm , width = 1.4mm , length = 20.9mm
so again no problem here
next i had a good look at the car to see if there was anything obvious ( i did not open up the car though )
and again nothing , front independent wheels are free and no binding , rear wheels are free with no binding , gear mesh is good , all tyres are good and clean , guide moves freely with very little to no wobble , braids are clean , wiring looks good
so that brings us back to the lower voltage ? i couldn't think of anything else
so i then ran it at 12v , and indeed the car was very much faster down the straights and continued to handle very well
how this would have translated overall here at Goldrock , especially with all the other cars having the extra power , is debatable
the car is very quiet and smooth , and corners very well , (infact at 10v could almost run the whole lap at full tilt) , but was noticeably slow in a straight line ?
i am sure at higher voltages and on larger tracks ( and probably a better driver ) this car will be a different beast , which we will definitely find out in the up coming rounds
i don't know what else to say Andy , other than good luck in the rest of the series ( and perhaps to wonder if you have any old chassis you dont need
