Global Touring Cars Challenge -Rounds & Results
#71

The modern BTCC cars all performed well but are almost a two class race of their own, with the MG and the Passat on fairly level terms and the two Civics also fairly equal around here.  In both instances, the lighter more nimble cars took the advantage with the Passat pipping the heavier MG and Ruscillo's lighter Civic just edging ahead of Banger's.

On to the big boys... The Falcons loved it around here and both did very well, although the Roadrunners Falcon had the edge with more grip and stability; definitely one of my favourites.  Brumos' Camaro looked stunning and drove very smoothly, especially on the longer more sweeping turns, it wasn't quite as settled in the tighter corners though.  The big Galaxie was a bit loose at the rear (not surprising considering how much car overhangs the rear axle!) but was quick. Makem's Camaro has the potential to be quick, but the gearing is very tight. The Flat 6 motor isn't sitting in it's lower orientation I.e. flush with the bottom of the pod. It looks to be fitted with an offset crown gear which isn't meshing well. Sort this and there is the potential for a very quick car here...

And the DTM cars... Fiery's BMW 635 was one wheel drive when it arrived.  The grub screw was pretty nurgled so I put a new one into the other side of the wheel which secured the offending rear wheel.  Once fixed, the 635 had similar traits to its smaller M3 JPS liveried brother, rapid in a straight line but not a fan of the corners.

The big Jag of Demon Tweeks was very stable and predictable but it's overall performance here was hindered by it's weight.  Modsports silhouette Peugeot was another that was easy to drive, but it lacked the nimbleness of the top 3.  Bangers silhouette Peugeot was very sprightly and would've likely beaten my Calibra had it had just a touch more grip. My Calibra had the home track advantage in that it was built and tuned here to spec which is known to work well. Whether it can keep that advantage at other tracks will remain to be seen.

Could you put a strip of tape about 10mm wide down and under the chassis just to stop it moving please.

If I'd seen an issue like that with a car at our round of the proxy I'd secure the body like I just mentioned above, to make sure it was OK to race.

Life is like a box of Slot cars... Cool Drinkingcheers
