Targa Florio Road Race - Car builds & Tracks
#21

Graham,

I was going to enter my Iso Griffo Bizzarini, George Tuner model, but I am not sure now.

The eligible car list shows the Bizzarini as 1973, the George Turner model is based on the 1964 car.

Online I found it was raced in the 1966 Targa? OK to enter or should look elsewhere?

That's not a definitive list yet Gerry, the GT model looks like the '66 TF model

Hi Gerry, yes I checked it did run in 1966 so happy for you to use that one.

Yes I checked the same web site, as far as I can see the SRC is the only version permitted.

NSR Porsche 917

There's a pair of NSR's new 'zero graining' tyres part number 5271Z

I've not used these before but glued/trued tonight and tried on my short (2 second lap) Scaley Sport track for the first time, they seem pretty good actually.

Those tyres weren't the easiest tyres to true, not as easy as Ultragrips but much easier than G25 type rubber.  One seemed to gum up a little, I'm putting that down to cleaning the Hudy grinding drum with a rubber grindstone cleaning stick first.

As the MR Slotcar Corvette was so late in appearing, I was preparing the Revoslot Opel Kadett for action in the proxy.
And then of course it has now appeared.

So I was going to continue with the Kadett for this proxy and use the Corvette for a USA Proxy for 50's cars, and started to work on it in that respect, without quite realizing that the administrator was barring the use of MR Slotcars for his Proxy. That was a great shame as after comparison with my previous years Ninco based Corvette I had become excited by the prospect of running it against the other entrants this year. It certainly seems to have better performance, with the Predator motor in (same as for the Ninco based car).

So alternatively I am considering to use this car to replace my Revoslot Kadett, and have been doing some comparative testing.

Having changed the rear tyres to NSR Ultras I was expecting to see a big improvement over the Paul Guage Urethane ones, and there was some improvement, however I am struggling to get the same performance as the Revoslot at the moment. Obviously the Revo has a more powerful motor, but it also has greater stability around the bends.
So whilst I can add ballast to the chassis  and probably a stronger slimline motor, at the moment the Revo Kadett is still looking like the better option for this proxy.
