Touring Cars Slotting - Official Results & Reports

Gerry, it would be helpful if you could embed any videos rather than just posting links. It is easy to do and instructions can be found HERE.

Hi All,

Here are the details for Round 10, to be run at NSSRC:

Round 10 NSSRC

Circuit: Main Club Circuit. Wooden surface with copper rails, 6 lanes, 120ft lap length, 13.6v.

Cars to be run as a 2 heat fixed time race, using lane 2 and lane 5.
(This means a 2 clear lane separation between cars)

Proposed heat time, 90s per lane. ie 3 minute total race time.

Driver 1 will run all cars on green lane.
Driver 2 will run all cars on red lane.

Cars will be run as an Event by Event basis. ie Driver 1 and Driver 2 will be unchanged during an Event, but a different Driver 1 and Driver 2 may be in place for the following Event. This will ensure consistency, of running, within each Event.

Drivers have a 2 lap familiarisation for each car, prior to each heat.

Measure will be the accumulated total distance. Fastest lap will be the deciding measure in the case of more than one car having the same distance.

In the case of a de-slot during the race, the race will be “Yellow Flagged” by the “Race Controller” and re-commenced once car(s) is replaced at its point of de-slot.

It is estimated that the total run time for 40 cars will be approx 100mins. Familiarisation laps and Yellow Flag stops, being the unknown variable.

I will be running this round, on Tuesday, with Graham present. His plan is to video the proceedings.

Great to have the videos, but I couldn't work out which cars were in each.

Last Pitstop

I decided that since I have the cars at HQ for the weekend I would check them out on my home track to ensure they were running OK.
Luckily I did discover these issues before we run at NSSRC

Bangers Racing Alfa 156 - Rear tyre coming off rear wheel rim. Needs to glued back on. Left for Chris to fix on Tuesday.

Green Star Racing  BMW M4 - Hardly moving on track. Thought it was a contact problem but on checking the rear tyre was tight against pinion. Moved wheel further away from pinion.

Ruscillo Racing - BMW M3 - uneven running, both rear tyres had partially come away from wheel. Glued tyres back in place.

Team Tatters - Calibra - running uneven, rear tyres were very sticky and had build up of loose rubber on them. Cleaned off with lighter fuel.

Mountain View - BMW M3 - Rear spoiler detached. Leave off for last Round

ALS Audi A4 - body front detached from chassis. 3d body post broken. I have glued the 3d post together , leave over night.

Red Dragons - Renault Laguna - chassis is exceptionally loose on body, will check with entrant.

BARacer - Ford Capri - intermittent running, contact issue. Looks like inherent guide fitting issue

Groundhogs- Ford Capri - intermittent running, contact issue. As above.

ManxEd - Calibra running with poor contact. Braids adjusted.

Deadheads - Rover SD1 -car running slow. Chassis misaligned on body and front wheel touching wheel arch. Looks like an issue with the chassis fitting location points have been damaged. But not willing to detach chassis.

Bangers Racing - BMW 3.0 CSL - sound like scraping sound on cornering. Reason unknown

Red Devils - Alfa GTA - slow running but smooth, meshing of crown gear to pinion feels tight. No action.

Lifeboats Racing - Alfa GTA. running uneven, rear tyre has grove in it due to rubbing against inside lightweight interior. Interior has become misaligned. I have placed tape on the back of the interior to hold it away from the rear tyre.

RoadRunners - Galaxie  body posts on chassis broken due to impact, have been glued back and car is running well.

Graham, couple of questions, are the hosts instructed to clean tires in between heats or when the cars change lanes to run with the new driver?  Are the cars to be inspected by the hosts prior to running or after ?  As we know loose tires can drastically alter the outcome or a broken body post ( except in the case of ALS’ Audi) I’m in awe of a 4.6x lap AND 2nd place.  I’m solely looking at the list of cars with issues other than electrical, and the rubber build on the other.

We tape cleaned the tyres before each heat.
