Touring Cars Slotting - Official Results & Reports

Sorry for the delay, we completed running the Woodland Fort round last night (yes, for the first time ever Woodland Fort opened on a Monday, just for this proxy).
I'm busy collating the results and will post them shortly, we had one major breakdown, the Tatters Civic struggled to complete a lap and on closer inspection the guide holding tab has broken, I cant see a fix apart from a new chassis (or a new guide plate glued over the original chassis) that is something that I am unwilling to do on someone elses car (even if I had time).
There is also something strange happening with the Mountain View Astra, it needed help to negotiate the tight corner on white lane, seeming to jam in the slot, and also gave the impression of hitting something on the straight, initially thought it was an over deep guide but on inspection the guide is shallow and short, there is nothing that was catching on the track, and the track itself was fine so what was happening shall remain a mystery.

The results will be based on the best single 2 minute race with any equal times decided by fastest single lap.

As a little tempter I can tell you that the best race distance was 24.16 compared to our Standard Saloon record of 22.66 and our modified saloon record of 26.94 but this was achieved by a BSCRA legal Group 12 running on rubber tyres (yes we do some weird things down here).

The fastest single lap was 4.564 sec compared with our 5 sec dead & 4.091 sec for our 2 classes.

Should have the results later this evening.

Here we have the results, order of running & pair of lap times on the left, then the far right column shows the cars in order of their fastest lap, the one remaining column, colour coded to the class shows the final results in order of best overall performance.

So from those results you can see that your event 1 podium is:
1. Savage GT Mustang
2. Brumos RSR Porsche 911
3. Roadrunners Galaxie

Event 2:
1. Makem Movevers Camaro
2. Harrison Racers Camaro
3. Bangers Racing BMW 3.0CSL

Event 3:
1. Manx Geoff Calibra
2. Manx Brian Skyline
3. Savage GT Calibra

Event 4:
1. Deadheads Audi A5
2. Ruscillo Racing BMW M3
3. Scott Sports BMW 125i

A few surprises there, we wait to see how that shakes up the overall order, photos of the podiums will follow (they were taken by another club member and I dont have access to them yet)

My own feelings on this event are that our track was a little grippy which really affected the 'slightly top heavy' cars, looking at some of them I expected a whole lot more from their performance, they looked superb but didn't give the times I expected, but that is just my own personal thoughts and bear no relation to any other club members thoughts.

Thank you all for once again allowing us to drive your wonderful machines (and I really must finish the 2 Galaxies I have part built)

Many thanks to the Woodland Fort Club for running the Proxy over two nights, probably more than they bargained for but nevertheless it is a most welcome set of results ......at least for most. The track surface is different from the other Wood based tracks we run on and does favour the cars with perhaps a little less grippy tyres. So hence some entrants may wonder why their cars lacked some stability whilst others will be delighted that their cars have at last found their best suited track.

But either way it does give us a different track surface challenge for our proxy cars, and I feel that the Woodland Fort Clubs participation in our proxy's series is a valuable addition to our programme...so well done to the club members for giving up their time (twice) to support our proxy, it is very much appreciated by us   Thumbup

Updated Overall Points for Rounds 1-8

Pitlane Review Rounds 1-8
So what an interesting set of results, a chance for cars further down the field to shine, great to see some new Podium cars. Makem Movers in 1st place  Sun, the Manx Bros on the Podium and even Scott Sports making a rare visit to the Podium. Perhaps we should do more Rounds at Woodland Fort  Tease

Tourist (Event 1)
1st Place - Savage GT - Mustang (155pts)
2nd Place - Brumos RSR ( 113pts)
3rd Place - RoadRunners ( 100pts)
These cars seemed unmoved by the Woodland Fort challenge, all running to form.

Grand (Event 2)
1st Place - Bangers Racing - BMW 3.0CSL (141pts)
2nd Place - Makem Movers - Camaro ( 85pts)
3rd Place - Deadheads- Rover SD1 ( 76pts)
Bangers Racing's BMW had to give way on this Round to the Camaro of Makem movers on a charge and loving the grippy track surface. Deadheads Rover got bogged down a little...actually quite a bit.

Super (Event 3)
1st Place - Savage GT - Calibra (118pts)
2nd Place - WVSAM- Nissan Skyline (97pts)
3rd Place - Mountain View - BMW M3 (70pts)
Sam's Skyline seemed to struggle on that round, giving a bit of a reprieve to Savage GT's Calibra.
However i was a great Round for the Manx cars with Brian and  Geoff's cars doing well, Brain's Skyline now close 4th with (68pts)

Modern (Event 4)
1st Place - Deadheads - Audi A5 (146pts)
2nd Place - Bangers Racing - Alfa 156 (86pts)
3rd Place - Mountain View - Astra (77pts)
The Alfa of bangers racing and the Astra of Mountain View struggled on this track, enabling Deadheads Audi to get further away. Ruscillo Racing's BMW M3  and Scotts Sports BMW 125i having a great time on this round.

Class A constructed Cars
1st place - Mountain View - Astra (140pts)
2nd Place - ManxEd - Calibra (113pts)
3rd Place - Harrisons Racers - BMW (84pts)
Mountain Views Astra still has  healthy lead in spite of a poor run on this track. Harrisons Racers BMW 321i making it by just one point into 3rd place. Team Tatters Honda Civic sounds like its got some serious issues with the chassis.

Class B Constructed cars
1st Place - Deadheads - Audi A5 (112pts)
2nd Place - Bangers Racing - BMW 3.0CSL (97pts)
3rd Place - Savage GT - Mustang (80pts)
Bangers Racing BMW loosing ground to Deadheads Audi, Savage GT just managing to get the Mustang into 3rd Place at the expense of Mountain Views BMW M3 by 2pts but the pack of runners up is very close behind.

Class C Constructed Cars
1st Place - Savage GT - Calibra (116pts)
2nd Place - WVSAM- Nissan Skyline (98pts)
3rd Place - ManxBrian - Nissan Skyline (63pts)
After a a great result on this round ManxBrian has displaced Team Tatters Calibra for 3rd place.

Best Team
1st Place - Savage GT  (469pts)
2nd Place - Deadheads (379pts)
3rd Place - Mountain View ( 365pts)
The gap has opened up between the positions, looking like another team win for Savage GT.

Fastest lap

So tomorrow our cars will hopefully be on the way back up to the North East to the NERCS Slot Club, where we hope to run Round 9 next Tuesday.

There will be stewards enquiry regarding an incident whereby reportedly  the RoadRunners Galaxie was forced off the road resulting in the cars retirement.

I did say they should be run as solo laps   Tease

I'll be interested to watch the videos too, for that incident and wondering what happened to my Calibra as it posted the fastest lap but didn't make the podium ?  Bigsmile
