Wavegreen Good evening,

With just under 3 weeks left before we start, most cars have arrived with all but 5 teams cars now at HQ.

We will make time for another test run next weekend for the recent arrivals and those which may appear before the end of the week, and some cars which  needed some fettling. A couple of cars had to be returned to their owners for major surgery. Hopefully they will reappear soon in order to give them another run also.

Time Just 2 more weeks left before we start.

We have now all but 3 teams cars at Harlequin.
I am really pleased that so many of you got your cars in early for testing, as there has been more than usual number of running issues, which would more than likely been unresolved if they had all come in at the last minute.
Motor failure, broken car on delivery, tyres rubbing on body components, rule infringements, and also issues with the excessive motor magnetic downforce. Luckily most of these issues have been resolved, but it does emphasise the necessity of having a number of weeks in advance to carry out these test sessions.

Hopefully the remaining 3 teams cars will arrive very soon, otherwise they might carry unresolved issues into the competition.

We had returned this week the Alfa Romeo Gran Turismo with a replacement motor, the TR7 glued back together and now in one piece. So these will be test run again on Sunday along with the most recent arrivals from Isle of Man and one or two others.

ALS Team has agreed to have their Alfa Romeo with Pirahna (high magnet downforce) motor replaced with an approved alternative, Brumos RSR having withdrawn the De Tomaso ( high Magnet downforce) is hoping to send a replacement model. Courtney Sport have also sadly had to withdrawn the Porsche 924 (high magnet  downforce)

So there is still a lot going on, I hope to set up the Rally Stage track in the last week before the official start begins, and this will be the first time I have used it, so will probably spend most of that week preparing the track. So I may not get much time to do any more car work in that last week.

So this Sunday is possibly the last test session.

Wavegreen Good Morning
I have edited and clarified the Results, points allocation, medals and vouchers in the leading thread.
For convenience I have copied it below.

Rally Proxy Round Scoring and Awards

Stage Times (Rally & Tarmac stages) -  Hosts will run each car according to the complexity of their tracks for a period up to 60 secs for each car stage. The number of laps to be run within this time is set by each host.
Round (Host) Times- Combined time of both Stage times, each host will run 2 stages.

DNF- a car which fails to complete a stage due to mechanical breakdown or physical impairment - Time allocation of 2x slowest car or default timing for each stage.

Round Event winner & runners up -will be announced for each Event by the host.

RoadRace Administrator -
Event Series Points
I will announce the accumulated Event timings results and post the results the day after the Host individual Event Results. Points will be allocated for the accumulated results from the rounds. 10 points for 1st Place, 9 points for 2nd etc. All cars which entered an "Event" at or after 10th place will receive 1pt, A DNF will receive 0 points.
Car Class (Construction) Points
I will announce the accumulated  Class results and post the results along with the Event points. 10 points for 1st Place, 9 points for 2nd etc. All cars after 10th place will receive 1pt, A DNF will receive 0 points. Class D points (as there are only 1 or 2) will be added into Class B (if made using a Class A body)
Team Points
I will announce the accumulated Team points and post the results, These will be the combined Event & Car Class results from the 2 cars entered by each entrant, or if a single car entered it will be the single car combined results.
Maximum points- 10 Event win & 10 for Class win= Total possible 20 points per Round or 200 points for each car in the series,
2 Car combined total 400 points

Winners Medals & vouchers
Our Medals this year are sponsored by "Truspeed Controllers"
So we will have Winners & Runners up medals for each Event (1st, 2nd & 3rd)
And we will have Winners medals for each Car Class A,B/D & C

Vouchers - with the good will of our Sponsors we will award vouchers for the winners and runners up of the Events, Car Class winners and Best Presented car.
George Turner Award will go to the winning car of the Monte Carlo (Event 1)

There will be no "Fastest Lap" award (as these are single lap runs)

The "Best Presented Car" will be declared at the end of the series, and will be chosen by a "entrants vote" and will be the highest scoring car from the 4 Events

I need some clarification on run times.

Normal practice for Slot Rally is based on as close to a 60 second run as possible not one lap.

The fastest cars round one of our stages is 5.5 seconds so we have run between 10 and 12 laps depending how many people turn up on the night.

I as kinda thinking of all the 43 cars we have to run, certainly when I been to live events they tend to be around 3-5 laps per stage.

So I think 3 laps for Tarmac and 5 laps on Rally would be a good idea, I will change that, that gives around 30 secs per car time.

I still think the run times should be the same not the number of laps, that's the great leveller.  I'm looking forward to driving the cars when they arrive but only 30 seconds is still going to feel like a rush.

With one minute runs, 43 cars is only one hour per Rally stage.

What do the other hosts think?

The problem is that the actual run time is often only part of the picture, as many of us will testify. Preparation and replacing cars that easily come off the track, each hosts situation can also make a theoretical 2 hours into 3+ hours.
But I am happy to give an advisory recommendation.

I just had a quick look on Slot Rally UK, here's one stage, it looks about 20 seconds to get round

Whilst this is a standard SCX going round our TT Grandstand stage (me driving and filming at the same time)
