think i was lucky to find that particular motor for the Lightning GT
but street stock is definitely NOT a done deal ... very tight  Thumbup

my focus has been trying to catch Rebecca's Nissan , looks like a lost cause again
that thing is just a bullet
was hoping my motor would break in more  Tappingfoot

2019 chassis arrived too late for the Pontiac
so just threw a spare narrow chassis under it
have different retro body planned for that 2019 chassis

anywho .... good luck everyone  Yes

Wednesday night racing

Welcome to our November event. The running order will look something like this...
  • Exhibitions & Match Race 1
  • NHRA 4-Gear
  • Match Race 2
  • Micro Scalextric Super Stock 6.0
  • Match Race 3
  • NHRA Top Fuel
  • Micro Scalextric Street Stock
First, the exhibition runs - Kev's Micro Scalextric Pontiac vs the Richard Petty Peterbilt 359 Cab & Race Trailer...

A highly entertaining start to the action - the two vastly different vehicle went down the strip side-by-side, clocking mid-0.900 seconds. The trailer did get a bit lairy at the end of the strip - probably needed a guide pin on the bogie...

Match Racing - Round 1

Iain's Ford was back and ready to prove a point against Bill's Corvette...

It was victory For Iain by 0.016 seconds - 0.428 to 0.447 and both very close to 11 mph through the line.

In the second race, Clive's Henry J was up against Rebecca's Mercury...

This was too close to call - the results screen giving it to Clive by 0.005 of a second - a 0.466 and 0.474 and 1 mph slower than the previous pair.

NHRA 4-Gear Pro Stock, Pro Mod & Funny Car Eliminators

Five cars gave a slightly lop-sided ladder, with top qualifier Iain having a bye in Round 1.

The action started with third and fourth qualifiers Bill and Andy facing off. It was close one - the 0.018 second winning margin going to Bill's Pro Mod. Their ETs were 0.856 and 0.865. Bill would face Iain in the only Round 2 race.

Before that, Rebecca and Clive would race for a place in the final. Clive got a great start - or Rebecca a poor one - but the GTX Funny Car overhauled the Pro Stock by the line. Rebecca's won by 0.033 seconds - 0.865 to 0.898.

Who would meet Rebecca in the final round?

It would be Iain. A blistering 0.748 gave a gap of 0.081 at the line - most of that achieved in the second half of the strip. Bill's 0.826 was not shoddy, but simply not enough...

NHRA 4-Gear final

The top two qualifiers lined up...

And this is what happened...

Iain was slightly quicker away...

And there was no coming back for Rebecca...

This was the screen...

And huge congratulations to Iain for another win with the mighty Fruit of the Loom Funny Car...

Here's your ladder...

And all the 4-Gear stats...

Match Racing Round 2 & Micro Scalextric Super Stock 6.0 Eliminators

It was a change of lanes in the match racing...

Another win for Iain's Ford - this time by 0.030 seconds. Both cars were on the cusp of breaking the 11 mph mark again, a 0.424 for Iain and a 0.452 for Bill. That's the match decided 2-0 in Iain's favour.

This was another very close one! Clive won by 0.008 seconds and wrapped up the match 2-0. The ETs were 0.458 and 0.471.

Super Stock 6.0 Eliminators

The largest field at this event - plus another slightly odd FIA ladder, putting the top two qualifiers in the top half. TQ Rebecca would sit out Round 1, leaving Clive and Jane as the first racers...

Brighton Rocks got the job done - winning by 0.022 seconds, Clive's ET 0.508 to Jane's 0.527.

Next, Kev had a good 0.470 run, beating Andy Phillips' Mini by 0.236 seconds. Andy's Mini pick-up remains one of the best-looking cars on the strip.

The third Round 1 race nearly produced an upset. A poor getaway for Bill meant Andy's Nissan led by a fair distance at half way... but the top speed of Bill's GT got him to the line first - 0.020 seconds ahead. The ETs 0.530 and 0.555.

Finally, in was Nissan vs Nissan - Iain and Jeremy looking to progress. This was super-close up until the final few inches - Iain's silver car edging it by 0.012 seconds. The ETs 0.524 and 0.532.

Two Round 2 races saw Rebecca in action and Kev sitting out...

Rebecca swept past Clive by 0.064 - the ETs 0.466 and 0.511. It looked like Rebecca and Kev's cars were on a similar pace tonight - and they would be meeting in the semi-final.

Meanwhile, Bill and Iain raced for a place in the final...

This was repeat of Round 1 for Bill - Iain looked to have the win, but the GT sailed through the line 0.010 seconds ahead. The ETs 0.501 and 0.520. Exciting stuff! And that spot in the final was Bill's.

Semi final

This is the final the crowd wanted to see - but the ladder brought forward the first vs second qualifier showdown...

It was fast - and it was close. Kev matched his Round 1 time - 0.470 - but Rebecca went better - a 0.456. The winning margin 0.014 and a formality in the final, surely? Or will that rough-sounding pinion finally strip...

Final

Rebecca and Bill's cars lined up at the start...

And this is what happened...

A great start for Rebecca...

And no way back for Bill this time...

Here's the result...

The pack are getting closer, but Rebecca's Sanditon Motorsport Nissan is still out front in Super Stock...

This is the Super Stock ladder...

And the full stats...

Exhibitions Extra + NHRA AW Top Fuel Eliminators

With the match races done & dusted, Kev's Pontiac and the Petty Peterbilt had another run down the strip to entertain the fans on an unseasonably warm November evening...

Then it was back to the action a three-way battle for Top Fuel honours...

Andy's FRAM dragster booked its place in the final, beating Rebecca's Geico Top Fueler by 0.101 seconds. The yellow machine didn't sound on top form. The ETs were 0.773 and 0.870.

Andy lined up against Clive in the second and final race...

And this is what happened...

Clive was off the line like a rocket...

Andy did come back, but it wasn't enough...

This was the result...

And revenge for Clive after the Autumn Nationals...

Here's the ladder...

And the stats from both races...

The final race - Micro Scalextric Street Stock - will follow soon-ish.

Micro Scalextric Street Stock Eliminators

A field of eight gave us a very neat quarters, semis and final.

Kev comfortably dispatched Andy's Alfa in the first race. The winning margin was 0.121 and the ETs 0.630 and 0.742.

The second race saw a minor upset - fifth qualifier Bill beating fourth qualifier Clive by 0.030 seconds. Their ETs were 0.640 and 0.668.

Jane beat Rebecca by 0.045 seconds - the ETs 0.639 and 0.683.

And finally for the Round 1 races, Iain took advantage of a Smokey Joe no-show to cruise to a 0.173 second win with an ET of 0.692. Jeremy eventually made it to the line - coughing and spluttering - in 0.865 seconds.

Semi-finals

Kev made this look easy with a scintillating 0.604 second run - close to the fastest ever Street Stock time. The inspection crew wanted another look under the hood, but nothing was amiss. Bill clocked an excellent 0.639, but was 0.043 seconds behind at the line.

Jane's margin of victory was greater - 0.054 seconds - but she needs to find seventeen thousandths of a second to match Kev's best. Her run of 0.621 seconds was more than enough for Iain, who managed a 0.678 with his awesome Halloween-themed machine.

That gave us the showdown we were all looking forward to...

Street Stock Final

Kev and Jane lined up...

And this is what happened...

Jane got the better start...

But Kev's car was stronger in the second half of the run...

This was the result...

Huge congratulations to Kev for bringing Jane's amazing winning run to an end...

Here's the all-important ladder...

And all the stats...

And that wraps up an exciting evening of drag racing. Amazingly, all the elimination races ended with the top qualifier in Victory Lane. That doesn't happen very often!

Thanks to everyone for sending cars and taking part.

The next race is next year - Tuesday & Wednesday 18 & 19 January.

I will get cars, medals and goodies wrapped up, ready to go in the post tomorrow. Bill's and Andy Phillips' cars will stay over, as usual.

Well done Kev!

Not sure there is any development left in Razzle Dazzle, but maybe a good clean over Christmas will find something.
