UK HO Drag Proxy Series 2021-22 - Race #2 July 2021
#81

2. Nostalgia T-Jets

Another best-of-three match between Bill and Iain - two RCR race-winning T-Jets...

Bill's Torino was sprightly off the line, but Iain's Chevy just had the better of the 7-foot run to the line. A win for Iain by 0.018 seconds - the ETs 0.637 to 0.668.

It was a similar story in the second race...

Except Bill held on right to the finish...

Another dead-heat! Sensational stuff for the packed crowd that always seems to be in the stands.

Bill got another great start in the third run...

As before, Iain closed him down on the line... Another dead-heat? No, a 0.004 second win for Iain's Chevy - 0.648 to 0.657.

Again, what a final that would have been. This is looking good for the event in September.

Here are the stats for the six runs...

And that is, I think, Event #12 wrapped up. Iain's pancake cars (+ his medals) will be in the post tomorrow.

Only 44 days until the start of the next event - the UK Autumn Nationals. I'll post up a thread soon.

Wow! That was some really close racing. Checkeredflag  Iain’s cars are really fast.   Good thing my cars went home for a tune up after last year’s finals.

Looking forward to next go around.

Vega FC really likes a long warm up.  Will have to remember to let you know next time.

Glad that Bill's cars arrived safely after their long journey.

As evidenced by the two dead heats, those races were incredibly close - but only to be expected given the duels in earlier rounds (In the February T-jet final I lost to Bill by one thousandth of a second). Interesting fact; both our cars ran faster in this latest race, so definite evidence of tune ups in both workshops..
'Till the next time Bill  Checkeredflag

With only 44 days to the next final. I'm wondering if I'll be able to finish my next 57 chevy project. Time to get to work...

Thanks again Andy (first box of cars arrived safely yesterday).

My cars arrived today safely!

Thanks Andy for all the extras included in the return box!!!!!!!! WOW!!!!!!

Customs in Austria is not as easy as with you, they charge the full amount on the marked value PLUS shipping, even if it´s marked as RETURN GOODS.........., but hey,
that´s another game.

After the race is before the race, so back to the track!!!! Wrench

It might be worth contacting Austrian customs to explain what these packages are - and to ask if there is a method for receiving returned non-commercial goods without having to pay tax. That's what Alan did with UK Customs and he got a helpful reply.

I can't do anything about the postage, but I can mark the value as zero - although that may look suspicious. And let me know how to write 'returned goods' in German!
